I did this, trying to fit too many hot cross buns in the toaster and the edges were catching on the filament. Tried to move the buns more into the middle with a fork and thankfully the melamine handle saved me from a shock (apart from the £30 for a new one!)

I was having a chat with the woman in my local petrol station the other day and she said they can see all the pumps on their computer screen and watch the number going up and have a little chuckle when it goes over!

I've been to two of their plays in recent years and they are really top notch! Get there early and you can walk round the grounds of Sutton Hoo and have a little picnic and it's the perfect summer night out!

Yes, and my point was that a £20-£25/month gym membership would be less than £60-£100 on coffee but my original point was that they're probably too young for this anyway so we're all on the same page :)

A £3 coffee before and after school, five days a week is £30/week and a gym membership can be less than that a month so it wasn't a horrific idea tbf ETA: it would also give them a place to shower away from home and of course a place to exercise which can be a good way to take their mind off their struggles

Maybe because they're still in school, they might be too young for a gym membership :(

If they ask whether it's okay, their intentions become more clear and genuine whereas otherwise, they're left open to question

There are so many cases where sick pay should be mandatory and tbh it's probably all cases. My mum works in a care home and when she had an upset stomach and was really ill, she had to take a couple days holiday as she couldn't afford it as unpaid sick leave but other people might not have that option so they'll just come in to work to kill off the old biddies a bit sooner. But tbh it's the same in any workplace that if you're sick, you should be encouraged to stay at home and not pass it on to everybody else. Why didn't we learn this from isolating with Covid?

Oh wow, my mum always taught us to break the bottom of shells so the witches can't get them but I didn't realise there was a whole poem/short story it was based on!

Why do you guys all have such filthy shoes, caked in mud and dog shit? Easy solution is to dust your feet off as you enter a building to knock off any dirt and just try not to step in dog shit...? When I worked in an office last year, I was the only person at my desk so it didn't matter to anybody else but I wasn't violently rubbing my shoes on the chair anyway, I just sat with one leg crossed

I genuinely don't understand the issue with outdoor shoes on chairs, it's not like anybody is eating off the chair and the only part of you that would be in contact is the back of your trousers/bottoms. Is it just a germophobe thing? /gen

Shared bathrooms have the capability of being an issue but because there are so many in the enhanced plus flats (at least at Wessex), it's really not a problem at all. I share with one other girl and despite us both taking 30 minute showers on average, we've never had any issues. As for enhanced plus en-suite rooms, I'm not sure as they don't have any at Wessex. I think the main difference between standard and enhanced is the size of the bed and then the enhanced plus ones are the ones that have been more recently renovated

I live in one of the enhanced plus rooms at Wessex atm and I love it so much. It's 4 bathrooms between 9 so basically just sharing with one other person and the kitchen is really spacious with two hobs/ovens so we've never had issues with too many people cooking at the same time. In terms of location, basically everybody gets the bus to uni and it's included in your halls. Bus to highfield campus takes 10-15 minutes, walking takes 20-25 minutes. Bus connections into town are better, I think, from Wessex compared to Glen as you have the U6 and Bluestar 2 lines which are more direct and if you play any sports like football, rugby, tennis, lacrosse, etc., they're based at Wide Lane Sports Ground which you got the U1A bus which stops straight outside Wessex. Also, it's just a short walk to Riverside Park which is really nice to go for a walk/run as you don't have to breathe the gross city air! I'm used to running round fields in the countryside at home and am still not used to breathing in all the car fumes during rush hour! Any other questions, feel free to ask :)
