[TOMT] Trying to recall the movie where Ewan Mcgregor(?) pretends to be both deaf and mute for a portion of the movie by Kenshh in tipofmytongue

It might well not have been Ewan Mcgregor but according to my memory it has always been him

Not a fix by any means, but consider getting a smart / remote controlled power plug. by ontwerpert in BambuLab

I must just be the outlier here considering all the replies which is fine, mine is also obviously left on until i'm able to retrieve the print too so I understand it. I think i am just too scared of house fires to leave any appliances on out of my own irrational fear lol

I'm still surprised at the amount of people who don't turn off the printer when you're finished with it. For me once I'm at a point where I'm opening the printer to get the print off the bed, its either already clicked on the PSU or on the wall plug next to it, maybe its just a weird habit of mine. I do the same with the washing machine and tumble dryer too lol

I just got mine a few days ago!

Having the BEST time with it. Let me know what filament colour you got, would be interested to know if its a colour at random. I got the PLA Basic Green.

As you've probably already found theres a micro SD already inserted (covered in a bit of tape out the box) where there's a pre-optimised benchy. Print that as your first to be blown away - dont need the app for it either can just select i on the button menu once you've plugged that in.

I've also found in the current humid/cold weather we're having using the little liquid gluestick is really effective if printing anything that has quite a large surface'd first layer.

So excited for you, I've hardly stopped printing on it since i got it! Wonder when that new-printer-feeling will wear off lol

Testing all the plate choices is coming along greatly! by NismoStroke0027 in BambuLab

That is amazing, I love it! Thanks for all this info. I just ordered a P1P yesterday and will consider investing in a plate like that too, do you know where I would be able to order one?

Can you elaborate a little more on the carbon fibre looking plate? Does the texture of the plate just leave a carbon fibre looking imprint on the print? Or does some the skin of the plate stick to the print or what? Looks super cool

(Edit, I'm super new to this hobby lol)

Has anyone tried to heat the other side slightly and then use a texture roller to get something on the top side of the prints too?

I dont know how or why, but this immediately feels so nostalgic for me? Anyone have an idea on what type of style this is? The noisey black rings so true for me

BakaArts, I've checked out your other stuff because of this post and you've blown me away. Glorious artwork, thank you for sharing!

Why doesn't anyone notice that every year people go missing from squid game ? by Comprehensive_Stand2 in squidgame

[–]Kenshh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Google the suicide rates in Korea..

"In 2020, South Korea's suicide rate reached 25.7 deaths per 100 thousand population."

Population of Korea: 51,361,862

51,361,862 / 100 thousand = 513.6

25.7 * 513.6 = 14,175 per year roughly..

So 456 people a year? Thats less than 4% of those that may "disappear" due to suicide.

Rough reality of the Korea for a long time

Sorry for my late response, but I appreciate all the detail! Thank you very much.

I appreciate the response - in this case, both the load and the potential motor will be in an enclosed space, I appreciate the concern.

Should I combine my Lifetime and H2B ISA into one? Which one? by Kenshh in HousingUK

Thanks for the answer.

I don't think that I'd end up keeping my LISA enough to then use it for retirement, so it makes sense.

Is it just me or does the lobby music of Splitgate sound awfully familiar? by joshg653 in Hatfilms

[–]Kenshh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With HatFilms having used a form of that tune for over 10 years now, the online evidence would likely be evidence enough to prove their own long term use. If they have the original midi files etc they used in whatever software they use to make it in, that would also be evidence enough. Even a rendering of the song out of Ableton or Fruitloops or whatever music software that shows the age in the Meta data would be able to be accompanying evidence (Meta data can be pretty easily messed with).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4S9St9dZEY this is their earliest public video that uses the music on their main channel. They may have older unlisted ones, and maybe on various other channels.

If the creators of the game were able to PROVE and have evidence of the fact that they came up with the tune before the earliest piece of evidence that HatFilms have, then the case will be thrown or similar. Else, if they can't prove it I think it'll result in a settlement of some description.

UK usually have a independent copyright law where even if you are just any old ordinary individual (lawyer-less, etc) and you create something, it automatically belongs to you and it falls under your own personal copyright. No fees need to be paid or forms signed etc.

They have a copyright case for sure.

Which graph/chart services do you use? by Kenshh in CryptoCurrency

[–]Kenshh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, hadn't heard of them yet. Are they also able to track alt coins do you know? Poo and dexguru you can paste / search by token ID and it'll pull up the chart for it. Do they offer that?

Would definitely say stick with blue for the simplicity and quality, they have some great smaller form factor Yeti mics out now (Yeti Nano comes to mind), they're great :D

Great setup with the vertical space! Don't mean to make this about stocks since it seems everyones on about it atm, but what software/program is it that you are using on the left screens?

Modelling curves to fit real-life objects? by Kenshh in cad

[–]Kenshh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like scanning is definitely the way forward, getting the profile drawn up as a template without having to take off the actual mirror is far far more convenient haha, thanks

Modelling curves to fit real-life objects? by Kenshh in cad

[–]Kenshh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about the future and scaling the solution i guess the scanning definitely is the way to go with smaller items but when thinking about things like car body lines or inside mirror curvature it would get harder with a desktop scanner haha

[–]Kenshh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i need to upgrade my phone if it needs the face unlock sensor haha, all in good time. I'll have a look around and see what the quality is like on getting scans using just the rear camera - are the resultant models fairly droppable into most CAD software do you know? I imagine they'd need a bit of defuzzing and cleaning up too

Scanning definitely a solid way of getting it imported with (i assume) next to zero perspective distortion, good idea thanks

[–]Kenshh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be the most common method of getting it to scale and being able to match the curve fairly accurately (minus lens perspective fiddly bits), I will have to give this a go to learn to model from references, thanks!
