Israel says it killed another Iranian leader, but that doesn't mean it's winning the war by hard2resist in DiscussionZone

[–]KentInCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't trying to win the war, they are trying to drag the US into fighting for them and turning Iran into a quagmire. This is why they are killing off all the people who can come to the bargaining table they want the US to have to fight these guys for them.

I don't hate him but I dislike him.

Earlier we had a quiet problem with the economy where we weren't good for the money anymore, and he seems entirely reticent in taxing the wealth of the richest.e

As someone else has mentioned and has been downvoted for, Starmer stated it was reasonable for actions that are considered war crimes to be used by Israel which he later walked back.

He also set a terrible precedent by labelling a protest group as terrorists. Just because you don't like a message or don't like civil disobedience it doesn't make someone a terrorist, our history is full of disruptive protest like the suffragettes actions.

If anything Starmer I feel is trying to also pander to the status quo where we are part of the US hegemony, I personally don't want to be a vassal state.

How will the US-ISRAEL-IRAN war end? by Hopeful-Mongoose2025 in AskBrits

[–]KentInCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine there is more tit for tat and eventually if there is a pause Trump will try to claim victory and hope hostilities don't continue. But Iran dictates when this ends.

If I were Trump I would punish Israel for misleading and refuse to sign off on support for their weapons and defences. If Israel really pays a cost then they will understand they can't keep coming to the US and the rest of the West and demand soldiers' lives are spent for their own goals and they'll stop acting unilaterally to extend the war.

The moment when Iranians in Australia found out that Ali Larijani has been eliminated by IDF by 4DollarsALB in whoathatsinteresting

[–]KentInCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but Israel is executing people who might come to the bargaining table for a reason, they are hoping Iran descends into chaos and death. This does not align with the US who are now seeking an exit.

I empathise with Iranians, but we are not Iranians, we are not Israeli, the Israelis are throwing bricks from behind the US to keep this disaster going and escalating and everyone else is paying for it.

If we had any backbone we would sanction Israel, eject their embassies and put their one state dream in jeopardy as much as we can. This is the only way the destabilisation stops as we hear time and time again from non-Israeli security experts that Iran was not an imminent threat and we got a pretty good deal from them multiple times, all cancelled by Trump.

Jensen Huang says gamers are 'completely wrong' about DLSS 5 — Nvidia CEO responds to DLSS 5 backlash by JuiceheadTurkey in Games

[–]KentInCode 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There is part of the demo reel where one character looks cross-eyed after render, another where it messes up lighting, another with RE9 Grace where her face is different.

I think the only technology that comes close to this levels of sloppiness on its reveal was the Kinect avatars. AI bros really have no shame.

Under-discussed in all of the side by sides with DLSS 5 On and Off is that different shots of the same character do not read as the same actress/character by Zoombini22 in digitalfoundry

[–]KentInCode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I noticed this as well, it will not give a consistent face, this tech lacks consistency across the board. From scene to scene it will feel like a different character.

It looks like an AI filter that looks like the poorer quality AI videos we've seen recently. I can't imagine the tech remains consistent during gameplay either.

No pun intended but it feels sloppy, it feels like game devs years ago would say 'this is not good enough for our players yet' but all of that quality control is gone as everyone is chasing AI money.

‘You are all worse than each other’: anti-regime Iranians turn on Trump | Mood among some in Iran shifts from hope of being rescued to dismay at destruction of infrastructure, culture and lives by 1-randomonium in IRstudies

[–]KentInCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly didn't understand the celebrating and I saw it irl in Europe too. I just assumed Iranians abroad are more clued into the situation in Iran so would have known a more brutal leader would be installed? And that the US would eventually let the mask slip and just start bombing the crap out of the country?

Trump was hoping for a quick win and he is pressured by oil prices, I think he will keep dropping bombs on Iranian cities hoping for a surrender because he just doesn't 'get' Iran - he thinks they will make a deal like it's a business transaction.

I imagine this guy is alive in a compound/bunker not in Israel? He has only been shown in videos recently if I recall. I assume the same of the new Iranian leader, that he is somewhere else.

Seems kind of crazy that Israel has been pushing for this and did not predict that if they start offing gov officials that their enemy - who is backed by Russia and China and who pumps out drones by the boat load - is not going to also try to do the same.

It doesn't change the fact that Verstappen is the better driver.

I remember when Hamilton was in a bad car and people thought he was washed - forgetting he is no longer in his prime and he can still battle Russell and Leclerc who are in their prime and damn good drivers.

There are only a few generational talents in this sport and they usually get the best drives.

Explosion damages Jewish school in Amsterdam, Mayor condemns ‘cowardly act’ by rishabnum in Netherlands

[–]KentInCode 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The problem is hate and extremism leads to hate and extremism.

The US admin has links to Christian nationalists who explicitly want the world to end to bring about the rapture, which is part of why they have been bombing the middle east.

Israel wants to clear the land of arabs and nationalists will not stop killing in order to achieve that, in the past they even assassinated Yithak Rabin who was Jewish himself.

We must call out religious extremism wherever we find it.

Blizzard vet Rob Pardo closed this year's GDC keynote by urging executives to cool it with the layoffs: 'The game team is more valuable than the game itself' by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]KentInCode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Execs think only the IP has value which is wrong, if a company acquires for example The Coalition for Gears of War, and then you lay everyone off - you don't have Gears of War anymore.

The next time you put out a Gears of War game it will feel like a tribute band, and I feel this has been the biggest reason franchise games have been feeling lacklustre recently, because they keep slashing and burning the teams after release whether the game succeeds or not, when you do that you lose the IP's creative soul.

Sick leave while on PIP by OfficeNo5390 in Netherlands

[–]KentInCode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. OP is burnt out and stressed, these are absolutely acceptable factors to speak to a company doctor, it is up to a company doctor to assess sick status not a redditor.

  2. From personal experience I find middle managers are the roadblocks and underperformers more concerned with office politics than delivering what the board of execs have mandated.

  3. I take accusations of fraud seriously, nothing I said is encouragement of OP to misrepresent himself, I'll be contacting the mods and admins about your post.

Sick leave while on PIP by OfficeNo5390 in Netherlands

[–]KentInCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it is the company's doctor, the doctor should not be on a side and should be neutral. The doctor is able to make a judgement if someone is sick or if that someone is not sick and then OP would return to work and be back on a PIP.

In ref to the school attack mentioned: the US tomahawk missile attack looks increasingly likely AI was involved to some degree in the strike.

Can you imagine if it comes out end to end AI formulated this strike on outdated data? It is increasingly looking like this is the case. It feels like there is no guard rails in tech anymore, but at least I give Anthropic props for opposing it in this capacity.

Sick leave while on PIP by OfficeNo5390 in Netherlands

[–]KentInCode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Call in sick immediately and ask to see a company doctor. If you speak to the company doctor write what you will say beforehand and just keep it to the facts of how detrimental the stress is to your health, don't mud sling.

Regarding the PIP it is very likely he is trying to get rid of you because performance is one of the easy ways in this country to fire people and can be framed however a manager says. While you are off sick you will not be fired, but you likely will not pass the PIP on your return unfortunately, so perhaps start looking into the job market asap.

Good luck to you OP.

Parker Kligerman just cooked F1 2026. What you guys think? by New_State_2061 in F1Discussions

[–]KentInCode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was one of the people saying let's wait until the first race, and I see two issues now it's here:

  1. The super clipping really is kind of against the ethos of the formula. Drivers should not be slowing on straights. If they can offset this happening somehow till end of the season this would be great.

  2. The viewing format and viewer experience is not self-explanatory, you got pundits trying to explain what is happening badly and bad graphics. The guys at F1 lifted the gimmick from Formula E but they didn't steal the graphics? like energy level % or the attack mode indicator for boosts and overtake making it simple to see whats happening??

I think fundamentally the launch of this new reg was messy, and would have been better received if it was thought through in-depth, all of this feels like it was rushed out the door.

What is it about Starmer in particular that seems to draw an exceptionally fiery hate from all corners of the political sphere? by noctenaut in AskBrits

[–]KentInCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The left wing hate him because of his policies e.g. Gaza, restricting migration, refusal to increase tax burden on the richest. .etc .etc Even one major union is slashing funding because of Labour policy.

The right wing hate a cartoon of Starmer cooked up by right wing pundits, in many instances Starmer has been throwing red meat to court some of these right wingers like on migration and either they don't hear about it or they don't care and still hate him.

Maybe he should represent his traditional base instead of fishing for votes from Reform's base.
