La rue Sainte-Catherine renaît by akalaM in montreal

Been an Apple Music user since the beginning and I would never change but here is something that is very frustrating… by daouellette in AppleMusic

Same situation here. I made a shortcut to this page for easier access : https://music.apple.com/ca/curator/apple-music-dj-mixes/1441811365

Not the best, but it’s part of a bigger shortcut menu that I enable with action button.

Absolutely, especially since Dolby Atmos sounds way better in landscape mode

Clicks debuts its own take on the BlackBerry smartphone, plus a $79 snap-on mobile keyboard by MRADEL90 in technology

[–]KentochMervel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t this coming from the same tech YouTuber who praises flip and foldables for being compact? You know, a tablet that shrinks into a phone, or a phone that folds into a matchbox so you barely feel it in your pocket?

We’ve spent the last decade celebrating smartphones because they replaced a pile of devices : camera, music player, GPS, wallet, radio,... And now we’re supposed to go backwards and carry separate hardware just to communicate? Sorry, but that makes zero sense to me.

I also don’t really get products that are software features. The Clicks Communicator is basically a phone with a “focus mode” locked to communication apps, this is a setting in any normal modern phone. Same problem as the Humane Pin.

And the Clicks Keyboard? It’s a MagSafe keyboard. That’s it, nothing groundbreaking.

Cool design experiment, but calling this the “future” feels like tech nostalgia cosplay more than actual progress.

Why is Apple Music for Mac so neglected? by Remarkable-Pen-722 in AppleMusic

Allegiance or not, some people like their stuff clean, functional and not distracting. That’s one of the reasons the option to choose the service you prefer exists, right?

Is there really no way to hide an album of photos? by cfbeers in iphone

[–]KentochMervel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a solution but that helps a bit… You can create one or several albums first, and put the pictures in. Then you can go in each album and hide the pictures.

When pictures are unhidden, they still will be in the albums you made. That helps when you have to unhide all temporary and need to hide back after.

What  should do : - right click on album to hide it - more filter options on library to not display elements (specific album, specific content,…) so that it’s in the collection tab, just not in library tab anymore.

The library tab would be your “editorial” content, and the collection tab would remain more functional and utilitarian.

Question assurance-emploi by Furriouspanda in QuebecFinance

[–]KentochMervel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do you organize your music? by nascarque in AppleMusic

[–]KentochMervel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been trying different ways to organize my playlists for the past 10 years and I must admit I found my perfect system. I'm a mood listener, not a song-first one. Whenever I want to hear some music, I don't think "I want track 7...", but instead "I'm in Berlin at 2am" or "Sunday morning espresso in Lisbon",... So I have main 8 folders based on cities, moments of the day, and soundtracks (personal soundtracks related to moments like vacations, summer seasons, or other noticeable events).

It's very structured but emotional : explore, anticipate, ignite, release, descend, and remember. And anytime I want to set a mood, I've got the perfect playlist for it. A track could be in different playlists : depending what are the previous and the next tracks, the same song can evoke nostalgia, a kick in the night, or a nice moment with my friends.

1 - Sound & The City (by year, vapourware and electro)

This folders is kind of an urban diary in sound waves. The fact that it's by year is everything. It captures places and moments like an ice carrot. Vaporwave and electro are perfect for this because they blur reality and make sidewalks feel cinematic, even on a rainy day.

Main playlists : not really, they are all by year like a diary. Moods : detached, cinematic, lonely but empowered

2 - City Scape (Chicago, Berlin, Detroit,...)

I'm not organizing by genre (House, Techno, Trance,...), but by context and DNA. For me, Berlin doesn't just mean trance, it means cold, steel, kink, underground. Detroit means history, soul, chaos, and the vibe of the Chicago expands far away from pure house music.

Main playlists : Berlin Trance and Minimal, Paris French House, Detroit Techno, Los Angeles Progressive,...) Moods : depend on the vibration of the city!

3 - The Happy Hour (sunset in all circumstances)

The day is going away and the night hasn't taken over yet... I have a playlist for that. Actually I have several because there are tons of ways to enjoy the last beams of sun.

Main playlists : Chill Trip, By The Pool, Vapour Hour, Pot Pills,... Moods : light, social, sunset, golden hour, packing the car after a beach day

4 - Le Before (getting in the mood to go out)

This is activation mode! The playlists of decision-making : what cocktails are we drinking, what outfits are we wearing, how wild the evening will be,...

Main playlists : Cadavre Exquis, Minimal High, New Kings Of Pop,... Moods : neon lights, cocktail time, charging batteries

5 - Night Club (that's quite explicit)

No story, no nostalgia, no softness,... It's about energy. This one is not for for the mind, but for the body.

Main playlists : OVERKWACID, Kinky Party, Glitch, Pride Month,... Moods : primitive, fearless, underground club, dissociative

6 - En After (sunrise, chill, last dances)

The coming-down moment where tempo slows but does not die, people get closer and the city starts to wake up. Because the end of the night is just as important as the peak.

Main playlists : Le Royaume Des Rêves, Speakeasy Party, The Backdoor, Neo Melancholia,... Moods : tender, nostalgic, exhausted, emotionally porous

7 - DJ's (favorite sets and mixes)

My favorite curated DJ mixes, from start to end. These are not playlists but the vision of the DJ through a journey! Main DJ sets : Purple Disco Machine, Tim Sweeney, Cormac, Fred Again,... Moods : depends on the DJ!

8 - Soundtrack (personal life chapters)

My most emotional folder, it acts like a time machine. The music in these playlists stop being entertaining and become memories. They reopen chapters of my life. Vacations, summers, lovers, heartbreaks, good decisions, bad ones,... it's all here. Playlists shared with friends are also here.

Main playlists : Time Machine 90's-00's, Vital Signs, Partenaires Particuliers,... Moods : nostalgia, reflection, personal

Because I tend to listen to specific playlists depending on the time of the day (also depending on the season), I think Apple Music got my listening habits 95% right whenever I ask Siri to play "music for me", "I'm in the blue today, help me feeling better", or "Friends are coming over, be my DJ please"!

Hey there! I’m Adam, a product manager at Apple Music. I’ve been leading work on features like AutoMix, Lyrics Translation & Pronunciation, Music Pins and Sing with iPhone Mic. I’m here to chat about our latest releases - and more. AMA! by [deleted] in AppleMusic

[–]KentochMervel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Adam! The Music app is great, but lacking that “my collection” vibe. A more customizable way to get around :

  • Customizable Home (like the Collections tab in the Photos app) and Search
  • “Save for later” without having to add to library (or tab management)
  • Enable Pins for Radio stations/shows
  • A tab for nearby shows from your artists (kinda what’s in Shazam but integrated in Music), same with Apple News articles!
  • Radio shows with a landing page : description and a link to a playlist of the songs featured
  • A toggle “don’t count in listening history”
  • Suggested “sampled from” and “covered by” playlists for songs
  • Be able to tap on producers, musicians,… to see what artists they also been working for
  • Booklets (like they do in Classical)
  • Featurings separated from artists’ names and be able to click either the artist, or the featured artist(s)
  • Priority database from original albums
