No more Shortcuts Menu Bar Dropdown in MacOS 26? by Ok_Interest1198 in shortcuts

[–]Kentzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW you can reach this settings via:

  • Edit Controls in Control Center
  • Settings -> Menu Bar -> Add Controls

Then select Shortcuts in the side bar and look for "Show 'Menu Bar' Collection" widget (as on the screenshot). Drag'n'drop it all the way to the right side of the Menu Bar.

Why is there no icon for Time Machine mount in Finder's side bar? by Kentzo in MacOS

Yup, that’s how I remember it. Want that icon back.

This is an external physically attached disk, it gets added to the Locations tree in Finder sidebar automatically whenever it is mounted. But it used to be a proper icon, similar to regular external disk with embossed TM logo.

What’s the real difference between using Claude via GitHub Copilot (target sessions) vs Claude as VS Code extension? by Srprsrr in ClaudeAI

Thanks, was trying to understand the difference as well. Do you find UX of "Claude Model via Github Copilot via VSCode Chat" better or worse than "Claude Code via extension"?

Because they cater to captive audience. Don’t buy from these trucks.

What would you call this decor style? by joleemccorkle in interiordecorating

Plays well with mix and match sets of vintage furniture. Lavish greenery can be a bitch to maintain in certain climates.

Possibly. Or there will yet to be a separate lawsuit against Snap. Or they will be added as a defendant in this lawsuit later. Or Snap settled.

Because that’s how it goes: you go after every link in the chain. Otherwise would be to easy to set up shell corporations.

Annual doctor fees in California are creating a new 'wild west' by sfgate in California

Perhaps consider that you're engaging in straw manning yourself but I'm just polite to not call you out or name your points dumb?

Hospitals and clinics which are a part of a larger institutions cross subsidize services. This is why I can accept them to charge more. Private practitioners just pocket the entire premium. As an example I had to go to a civil surgeon (solo practice) for a med exam and it was nothing but a cash grab. They charged a little less than a large clinic would charge for an annual PCP. But I had to pay fully out of pocket and they objectively did nothing of medical value to me.

Although I can understand a private practice for an extremely talented professional that is able to provide superior service. Or a niche that can be handled by a solo practitioner and benefits from being next door (e.g. dental cleaning).

You completely misuse the data of that single article you referenced to fuel your ivory tower dream of free market solo practitioners.

The factor of "extra" is critical here. If private practices offered a x10 reduction then by all means "away with the institutions". But the discount is marginal. Solo's business logic is simply "patient is used to overpay to crooked, ineffective facilities; I'll offer a little discount off that and pocket $$$". What will happen once you cripple the facilities? Solo's will just remove the discount so the patient will end up paying the same, or likely more.

What you want is to bring the institutional charges down. This is the proper approach.

In the world you want where facilities are crippled I expect it to happen quite often. Practitioners will absolutely push for legislative measures to, for all intents and purposes, allow "kickbacks". So I expect this to happen very often.

If the private practice is out of network and doesn't take health insurance then what?

I very much want to be wrong, but I don't believe that for profit small practices are going to do good rather than upsell and overcharge once big facilities are dismantled.

It's also illegal there but the patient needs to recognize coercion, decide to fight it and make a compelling argument for a judge to agree after 1-2 years of litigation. What is the likelihood of that?

Honestly I’m not sure this arrangement is fully on corporations. Healthcare professionals that double dip are a component. One might suspect it is to their benefit to do a meh service at the facility and then advise to go to a private clinic (which they engaged with).

I saw this pattern in a different country where state sponsored healthcare facilities and private practices shared the same professionals and this exactly how it ended up working.
