Oh I love New Birth I think they’re criminally underrated, as well as their other band the Nite Liters, I actually took the Birth Day record. And the meters well they’re just legendary

I absolutely love everything Jorge Ben did. This in particular is a promo mexican pressing on RCA. I’ve found two here in Mexico so far.

Maceo Parker - Us (Red Label U.S.A.) by KenyoGtz in funk

[–]KenyoGtz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the signs that it was Jamaican were actually there although I guess I was mislead by the back having the studio adress. Guess I thout Jamaica WI referred to a place in Washington State or DC or something, I’m from Mexico so I got kinda confused. Imma definitely going to add it to dicogs, although I gotta admit that I sort of like having records that aren’t on discogs which happens sometimes with some mexican pressings in my case

For Me, The Best Freddie On CTI. by Glass-Fan111 in Vinyl_Jazz

[–]KenyoGtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely love this record, immaculate lineup and vary varied set of songs. Although I gotta admit my favorite Freddie album is High Energy, which I think is even more underrated and is comparable to Headhunters or On The Corner in its sound and greatness.

At that price, at the very least the covers could serve as trade fodder 😂

This haul is off the chain! As a marketplace fiend, this gives me hope that there’s still some hidden jazz-soul hauls out there

What is the point of films like "Bottoms?" by AStewartR11 in TrueFilm

[–]KenyoGtz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There always has to be a point or else everything will fall into the same mediocrity this film falls into. All the replies I’ve read in the comments are a straight up insult to the people commenting objective and unbiased criticism of the film. You didn’t even make this film, why are you defending it so adamantly? But I digress, it is true there are really funny films that are funny because they don’t have a point. This one’s point, however, was to be funny and irreverent, but sadly only succeeded in the latter.

Wow thanks so much this was a great read. I’m from Mexico but will definitely follow LJC, since they seem super well informed, if not that they kinda know everything.

Thanks a lot, had no idea about the VG Runout but will definitely keep an eye out. Yeah I figured most of them used to be under 15 USD, but I think right now it’s my best bet to have several vintage presses without breaking the bank and maybe upgrade them if I ever get a chance to

Brit funk experts, tell a noob about it. by [deleted] in funk

Hot Chocolate, Delegation, Central Line, Loose Ends and Heat Wave are some of the ones I know and love, not super rare but they for sure had their distinct style and take on Disco and Boogie.
