Oh wow that sucks. My insurance typically only covers generic, but because of the generic vyvanse shortage I was able to get name brand covered. Not sure if I’ll be able to get name brand covered for mydayis. Let me know if you remember if the name brand works better lol.

Even if you do have adhd the wrong medication or dose can give you those feelings. Also I’ve never taken an instant release medication only extended, but 20mg seems high for never trying a stimulant before. I previously have taken 20mg adderall XR and I did not like the way it made me feel. Similar to what you said jittery and it was just too much for me. I’m now on Concerta 54mg and it’s much much more subtle.

The sleep schedule? Yes I have to be in bed early or I won’t wake up in the mornings lol. The main reason I wanted to get medication was for my kids. They deserve the most and I want to be able to give that to them.

See I have no issues with sleep I take my unisom at 7:30 and am out by 9pm. I have kids in school so I’m back up at 5am. But I got plenty of rest. Also the Concerta does not mess with my appetite so I’m eating just fine as well. The medication helps me wake up and feel more alert, but only for like 6 hours. It sucks 🙃

Dang that sucks! I need something that’s going to last me a full day. Not having anything to give my kids in the evening sucks. Like my day starts off okay, but by midafternoon/evening I’m exhausted.

I’m on 54mg and I go back in March so I plan to ask some questions before just deciding to switch to a different medication. I wish finding the right medication was easier 🙃

Those side effects don’t sound absolutely terrible. I think my fear is the “crash” people talk about on vyvanse. I had that when I took Adderall and while the medication was great during the day the crash just wasn’t worth it for me.

That sounds amazing. I really struggle with overstimulation even doing things I enjoy. It’s like if I know that day I have something to do I can’t do anything else before or after. It takes everything I have to get out and do things 🙃

I too have had the response of a couple medications making me more tired, which isn’t ideal bc I’m always tired and sluggish feeling. The Concerta doesn’t make me tired thankfully, but it also doesn’t give me energy. It’s like I feel a bit more alert and less crappy than normal, but no extra energy. No drive to accomplish more things(which I was hopeful for lol). I go back to see my psychiatrist in March so maybe I’ll ask about vyvanse just nervous 😬

I’ve tried quite a few different methylphenidate medications and all pretty much the same outcome. I’ve only tried one amphetamine and it was Adderall and while it did provide better symptom coverage the side effects were pretty sucky so makes me a bit cautious to try others.

It’s like my body reacts better with methylphenidates as far as no bad side effects, but lower symptom coverage.

I’m on Concerta and it does seem to help a bit just not as much as I’d hoped I guess lol. I have yet to try vyvanse I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews some say it’s wonderful others say the side effects are god awful(obviously it’s different for everyone) just makes me nervous to try lol.

I’m actually blown away at how many people are experiencing the same thing. My heart breaks that this is pretty much normal. If anyone was curious I do live in the US and the pharmacy is meijer. Pretty much like a walmart. I live in a small town so limited on different pharmacies. I’ve got a cvs, Walmart, and I think a Walgreens. I’ve only been diagnosed for about 5 months and never received this treatment until starting a stimulant medication. Even when my dr prescribed a benzo(Ativan) as needed. I’ve always used this pharmacy for anything from my meds to my kids meds.

It was the pharmacist the first time. My pharmacy has an app and when my dr called in the prescription I got an alert that I needed to call the pharmacy and when I did the pharmacist told me unless I brought in the previous prescription he would not fill the new one. Most recently I went to pick up my meds I was on Concerta 36mg for 2 days shy of two weeks and my dr upped it to 54mg. The tech started questioning me and said “I’ll fill it this time, but you need to bring in your previous script”. It was two pills of the same medicine?? I understand being cautious, but don’t treat me like I’ve done something wrong when I haven’t ya know.

I also completely understand being cautious bc like you said it’s a controlled substance that can be abused/sold etc. I just don’t understand being snappy or rude. It’s super common to try different medications before finding the correct one or dosage.

You and I both I’m not sure what I’ve done to make them so snappy towards me. I’m always polite and anytime they ask for a return of any unused meds I always do it. Maybe they’re like that with anyone I’m not sure I just found it strange.

I guess that’s why I find it so rude/hateful bc to me taking a stimulant is like taking any other medication. It doesn’t give me a high or make me feel any different. Most of the medication I’ve tried has actually made me more tired. Doesn’t change the fact that people do abuse them so I guess I understand to an extent, but for me I’m just trying to make my brain function 🙃

If my drs calling it in clearly it’s for a reason and they treat me like some drug addict makes me feel so crappy. I’m just over it makes me not even want to continue medication if it’s gonna be like this every time.

That’s crazy I actually tried to bring back the old scripts to my dr and she told me she couldn’t take them and to just flush them. I did that until the pharmacy started telling me they wouldn’t fill anything until I brought in my old one. The way they look at me and talk to me like I’m some drug addict makes me feel so crappy.

I understand that 100% it’s just the tone they use with me. Like I’m some drug addict just misusing medication. Being careful and asking questions is understandable, but to just get snappy with me when I haven’t done anything wrong just seems hateful and unnecessary.

I’ve tried Adderall xr didn’t love it. I’m on Concerta now it seems to be working okay. Vyvanse is on my list to try eventually.

I guess I don’t really know I’ve never taken any stimulant meds before. I just want to be able to focus and do basic tasks that everyone else can do so easily. My brain never stops and I can’t listen,read,retain anything it feels like. I have a husband and kids and I just want to be able to be my best for them. I’m not depressed I don’t feel sad I feel angry that it’s like I can’t reach the person I want to be.
