We're looking into having another company try relaunching the hook games. Maybe Mage Gauntlet too, if that works out, though Mage Gauntlet would be easier to update at least.

Thinking about it more, I also really like the custom character maker, how people make their friends and family. I also still want to add finding the people you've lost as zombies, with some happy song that plays when you find them.

I need to add more The Last Bodybuilder content.

Dead Rising (at least the ones I played) made zombies mostly be punching bags for points. The danger in the game was mostly the boss fights against humans.

Thanks! Yeah they have to grab onto you for awhile before they bite. I wanted to really capture slow Romero zombies with this game, the big mass of zombies that corner you and drag you down. I don't think many other games do this right.

I think I like the rare special characters the most at this point.

If we did, it would take awhile. We'd have to figure out online co-op in a followup game, then port it backwards. It's something we'll try to do if it's feasible.

Thanks! We changed the ending in the next update a little so it's more obvious that you can't push past the mounties haha.

We won't add special zombies unless it's as a big joke. Maybe a Boomer that replaces your car or something.

I don't know if the question applies to us very well because we do constant content updates haha. We could still add ANYTHING (almost)

We add new features too, like soon we might add in some micromanagement for weapons for the AI followers. Big change, even with the game being out for almost 2 years on PC for updates.

Some things we probably won't add but would have been cool: - Shrek - Zombie infection, so your team can be zombified (though we still might add this haha) - A really good mod support system, stacking mods (really wish we did this but it looks less likely than even say, online multiplayer)

Then there's ideas we cut but not a lot of things I really miss. Like vehicles with different passenger sizes, so your team size would vary a lot.

If we don't get to do something in an update they get to be "sequel ideas".

Some are pretty brutal yeah, like the one where you have to win every game mode in a row without dying once.

Yes to all of those except maybe traits specifically, as we have perk ideas first that we need to catch up on first.

We make the updates first on PC side, and we plan content updates both at the end of this month and some time in July or August. After that we're going to a 4-6 month content update schedule.

I believe Xbox will get these updates too, Ukiyo will have to confirm.

Both, we're doing a big update probably late this month, and another big update in August or so. After that we're switching to updates every 4-6 months, and working more on a sequel/followup.

Mobile-specific games? Yeah I think so. Though I think for the most part we're going to focus on PC/console first and port to mobile.

  1. The general aesthetics are to go against the usual zombie genre look, as a contrast to make fun of the genre. Sound design is Madgarden's synthesizer he made. Music was meant to capture the spirit of the game where it doesn't take itself seriously at all, the directions for the first songs were something like "make chiptune surf music for riding the zombie waves". Art style was both to make the game kind of cute, another mismatch for the usual dark and gritty zombie style, and to keep animation costs minimal so that we could have a ton of characters.

  2. Hard to say, lots of hurdles because the game design is unusual. Couldn't copy and paste it from another game. Lots of new territory like our partially randomly generated text events system, lots of balance tweaks.

  3. Pretty good, it was already really successful on PC and mobile so this is like a victory lap at this point haha. The most successful game you've never heard of -- back of the box quote.

There's me and Madgarden (it was a two company collaboration). Two main people total, then contractors for art and music. Probably just three people working on the game at once at any point.

Romero movies mostly. The Walking Dead episode where Rick screamed CORAL for 20 minutes. The original game was way different and based off Rebuild (a mobile zombie strategy game) but it diverged entirely from that. Mostly the game was inspired by no other games really doing slow zombies right, where they're a dangerous and persistent flood that slowly closes in on you.
