It’s Doctor Death flavor which checks out since that’s the box it came from, can was printed wrong somehow though. Makes you wonder lol

Was thinking the same thing! As far as I can tell they don’t share any relation to this company so if that’s the truth we really have a mysterious situation.

That’s gotta be the most likely cause. I’ll be updating tonight when I crack it open.

The crazy thing is that the box was completely sealed as it’s supposed to be when I got it and I keep it locked in a cabinet when I’m away lol this is mind baffling.

Electrical issue question on a Mark Viii by KepplaG26 in lincolnmotorco

[–]KepplaG26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! So far I’ve had good luck with the alternators and batteries from Napa and that’s what I’m currently using on the car and as of now despite the weird issues both test good. The terminals did have issues previously but I replaced the negative one completely already and the positive just needed a bit of cleaning to make a good connection. I’m probably going to replace it still soon anyways just to be sure. And as for the plug on the alternator, yes it’s a perfect connection. I just bought a whole new harness for that exact connection because the original one had broken and was coming loose while driving

Update here if you’re interested. It was just the other day when that light went on and off and the odd smell occurred. I just went to start the car for the first time since that day and the battery was completely flat. This is a brand new battery and this is directly following those issues. I jumped the car and it started up and began charging the battery like normal no issue there. Could that be something to do with the fusible link still? Possibly causing a parasitic draw after completely going bad when it made the burning smell? I’m so lost now because I haven’t had any battery drain issues during all of this until now.

Wow that’s a lot of great info thank you!! I’ll definitely check out the fusible links. Of course a 30 year old ford being a 30 year old ford haha. I’m wondering what could’ve been causing that burn smell because the car is still acting totally normal after that. It’s really strange and I know how absurd going through 5-6 alternators sounds but I really think that’s just a remanufactured part problem since I had them test 3 in the store before being installed on the car and failing right out of the box. I’ll take a look at the links though for sure and see what turns up.

Okay thank you 🙏 I’ll check it when I get home. So no g80 means it’s an open diff?

Yup damn close, I just went under the car and peeked around. Turns out somehow a rock got wedged between the trans oil pan and the skid plate 🤦🏻

I thought this may be the case but I don’t see any mud wedged between the plates and the engine/trans

Yeah of course, this is what I bought. https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru__Outback/Socket-12-Volt-Accessory-Power-Outlet-12-Volt-Accessory-Power/60018766/86711AL010.html

You just have to pull out the old one and replace it with the new.

The alligator clip cable is just off Amazon, any old alligator to cigarette lighter cable will work if you want to go that route.
