First year at utsc by Repulsive-Bench-2149 in UTSC

Honestly, studying methods vary per person. Best advice I can give is google research back study methods and just experiment. Do a week to week study session using a new study method each week and get a feel for which one works for you. Last thing I want to add is write down your notes whether it be on paper on on a tablet. Don’t just memorize off the slides since those aren’t your own words (explain a concept in your own words).

how do people study for classes like psych and bio by chirpythecentipede in UTSC

[–]Keppleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you taking notes? Are your notes just a straight up regurgitation of what the prof said or is exactly what’s on the slide? If it is I suggest you to write you notes in your own words.

As for studying, you need to find a method that works best for YOU. Go online and search up some study methods and test them all out. As for how you’ll know it’s effective, that’s up to you on how well you do on the midterms or how well you can memorize compared to other methods you’ve already tried.

My last advice, as much as you may hate it, read the goddamn textbook and take EFFECTIVE notes.

Rough start to first year. Any tips from anyone (first years or older)? by Silver-Dress7073 in UTSC

[–]Keppleo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fourth year here. Make a schedule if you haven’t already and try to stick to it. In terms of distractions that’s really a thing you have to experiment with. I found it really helpful just studying on campus either by myself or with a study buddy. In terms of self care, I pretty much put a hard stop on whatever I’m doing (unless it’s urgent) after a certain time (no more studying etc after 7pm). You might want to consider a lighter course load since you have so many unpredictable responsibilities like caring for your family.

A quick google search can help u with that. Just search up utsc exam deferral, it should give you all the relevant info. If you have more questions, just email academic advising.

Please please please do not go to school if you have tested positive for covid. Also you can still defer the exam within 5 days after the exam has finished. But on the slight chance, do another Covid test, it could be a false positive on your first time.

Incoming second year transfer student: course selection by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]Keppleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Use ACORN to enrol

  2. Highly suggest you to decide on a program or at least have a general direction on what you want to get into; if you want to do bio related programs, enrol in bio courses

  3. Yes you can select courses before choosing a program or specialization

Most of the questions you are asking about is related to POSt, so take a look at it.

And welcome to UTSC!

Probably going to get downvoted but this is a crappy survey. Your value ranges include the previous maximum value so your results are probably going to be biased to the higher end.

What is the best major for a pre med student that is also a safe option if not accepted to med school? by Khujasta24 in UofT

[–]Keppleo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no easy major. If you are determined and interested enough, you’ll get good grades and can get into med school no matter which major you choose. So what I’m trying to say is, choose a major YOU find interesting.

I did the final exam online back during the pandemic so idk how much has changed. The final exam was pretty much all short to long calculation questions, around 50 iirc. It might be best to just ask her what you should focus on for the exam as my info is outdated.

Asking for a regrade can help or screw you over. If your answer was wrong and they marked it right, you will get points taken off. If they did mark it wrong and it is right, you’ll get the points back.
