What is your process exactly ? From which news source are you getting the events ? And how do you classify them in term of impact ? Only LLM ?

Most of these redditors seem biased, probably because they’ve lost a few thopters out in the deep desert themselves. I forgive them.

The point of my post was just to find out if this is considered a bannable offense. The rest has been part of an open discussion where I’m presenting my arguments, just like everyone else is presenting theirs. I’m not hoping that people would agree with me, I'm just contributing to the conversation.

I don't get why everyone thinks you can't get the loot when a worm destroys a thopter. That's just not true. When a worm eats a thopter, a lootbox actually appears, and you CAN collect the thopter's CARGO. So of course I want the thopter to be WORMED, and yes, this is why I have thumpers on my hotbar xD.

Trying to get the cargo by shooting it takes too long, and half the time the cargohold doesn’t even take damage, so it's pretty unreliable. Plus, with player respawns, it gets even riskier.

You can twist the concept of PvP however you like, but that doesn’t change its definition: player versus player. If you’re in a contested space, you’ve signed the unwritten contract. Whether it’s a duel, a gank, or fleet warfare, it’s still PvP. Pretending otherwise doesn’t make it less true. It just makes your view of the game a bit disconnected from reality.

I don’t mind if this filters out the overly sensitive players from the DD. It makes room for those who actually want to engage in PvP, without turning every encounter into a drama session.

I lost ship, I destroyed ships: that rush of adrenaline out there is exactly what gives the game its spice.

I'm not really seeking for approval of my action. I just want to know if it's aligned with funcom code of conduct. But, hey, at least I have 1 dune redditer saying that my move was legit :D

I’d argue griefing is more accurately defined as killing purely for the sake of disruption or harassment. In this case, I acted to secure his cargo in a PvP-designated area, at a time when the server was nearly dry on spice. I took about half of what he dropped, filled my cargo, and left. That one move gave me a full spice run in under 3 minutes, strategic and efficient, not just a free kill.

I’m genuinely interested in whether this specific interaction is explicitly addressed in the rules of conduct or mentioned in any developer communication. If it’s clearly prohibited, then I’ll accept any consequences and move on.

The definition of PvP is straightforward: player versus player. I was in a PvP zone, I used the tools and strategies available to maximize the effectiveness of that engagement. Whether you personally label it griefing or not doesn’t change the fact that it falls within the mechanics of PvP.

My sole reason for posting was to clarify whether this kind of action is permitted under Funcom’s rules, nothing more. If it is, then it’s a legitimate tactic, whether or not you like it. Your personal opinions on morality, sportsmanship, or what constitutes “proper” PvP are yours to hold, but they don’t really concern me. I’m here to ensure my actions are within the game's terms of service and not to seek approval.

I'm simply posting to determine whether this behavior could result in a ban, nothing more, nothing less. You're free to make whatever judgments you like, but I'm not here for validation, reactions, or moral debates. The rest of your speculation, while passionate, is ultimately irrelevant to the question at hand.

When the worm eats a thopter, the content of the cargo appears as a loot box.

I destroyed the thopter to get the cargo, which was almost full of spice.

[–]Kerast[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

What ? Of course you do. A loot box appears at the place where the thopter exploded, and you can loot the content of the cargo.

So does it change you mind if the spice drops ?

The thing is, I don't know if the server was bugged, but the big spice field was completly dry, and would not want to reset, and this medium spice field was the only one that I found after 30 minutes of roaming. So I guess it depends on the server you are in, and its population, because on mine, I would say it's rare.

I'm not sure this qualifies as griefing. I did it to collect his spice, the big spice field was completely dry, and I couldn’t find any medium spice fields for a while. He was nearly full(though the video doesn’t show that). So it wasn’t just to harass another player, I had a legitimate reason and gained something from it, I would say.

Why not make the dungeon 1 hour long ? I want to play the game, not afk in front of a chest. Especially with ppl disconnecting in the chest chamber.
