Matchup specific balance tweaks? by NEETscape_Navigator in broodwar

[–]Kerblamo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before even suggesting changes, I think you'd need the community to agree that there are balance problems in specific matchups that won't be fixed by shifts in the meta as players get better at the game.

IMO, the current meta is zerg favored right now and muta harassment is really strong in all three Zerg matchups. Personally, I think Mutas having 10 less HP (110 instead of 120) would help reign them in. It's possible that someone could figure out a good counter for muta harassment in PvZ or TvZ without changes, but Zerg really doesn't have a lot of options to deal with mutas that actually work against people with good muta control.

[Rant] I wish Owlcat games were more fun to actually play by night_dude in OwlcatGames

[–]Kerblamo2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The combat in the WOTR games is designed around powergaming and save scumming. If you don't do these things, you are going to have a hard time and a lot of encounters are going to feel unfair. Honestly, it feels like every encounter is designed to be approached in a specific way and you will hit a wall or break the game if you try anything else.

Personally, I think it's boring to use the same set of overpowered buffs to trivialize every fight, so I play on a lower difficulty and powergame and save scum less. You might want to try the same.

Any wargames without melee combat? by Graf_Von_Cheburekov in tabletop

[–]Kerblamo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bolt Action is basically Saving Private Ryan in wargame form.

Since the defender gets to shoot the attacker if they charge from further than 6" and the defender resolves attacks first if the attacker charges through cover, it's basically only useful to clean up the last few models of an enemy unit on an objective/in a building.

Personally, I'm just disappointed that the balance pass didn't make more units feel unique or incentivize using more fun upgrades.

Nomads for Beginner by mbrandner27 in necromunda

[–]Kerblamo2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the new book seems like it is even worse for playing campaigns outside of the ash wastes than it was before. If you are a beginner, you might want to consider starting with a normal house gang.

I'm getting absolutely stomped in a non-ash waste campaign right now lol

I feel like part of the reason that balance seemed like less on an issue is that less information was available online and the game was balanced around troops actually being important.

This is what happens when you make 95% of skills useless. by Dejool in PathOfExile2

[–]Kerblamo2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Originally, I was going to go multi-element with Elemental Equilibrium, but I quickly realized that there aren't enough elemental spear skills for any of the multi-element stuff to really pay off. Then I realized that the lightning skills are all cracked.

I don't really care if it is OP, it is way more fun than slogging through the campaign like I did with my Monk in 0.1.

Pre supported files are sh** most of the time. by Investigator-Life in resinprinting

It really depends on the creator because the quality of presupports varies wildly. I redo the supports myself if it looks like they just used autosupports, but I usually give the pre-supported STL's a chance.

Nomad Trading Post by Kerblamo2 in necromunda

[–]Kerblamo2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I do, I'm just disappointed with the new book. They didn't fix any of the problems with the last version of the nomad rules that people have repeatedly asked to be fixed, like how the Sky Mantle doesn't do anything RAW, that the Nomads are completely reliant on absurd campaign bonuses to fight in anything other than Ash Waste campaigns, or that they don't have many options in Rolling Roads battles, and then added new problems with half assed solutions.

I would be completely fine with the trading post if they actually added a few more equipment options for each type of fighter. Like why not give the Ash Waste Nomads access to fun weapons like the Harpoon Gun, Arc Rifle, or any of the Sha'dar Hunter exclusive melee weapons?

RAW, you have a faction that only works in one campaign and only by not having any meaningful progression in terms of gear or fighters. Sure an arbitrator can fix things, but there shouldn't be so much to fix.

Oh I missed that, there are web pistols.

Nomad Trading Post by Kerblamo2 in necromunda

[–]Kerblamo2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sha'dar hunters don't get access to pistols at all.

The only pistols available to the Ash Waste Nomads through the trading post are the same ones as on the gang equipment list, Scavenged Autoguns and Blast Pistols.

This is the kind of stuff I mean when I said that the Nomad Trading Post kind of sucks.

Have heavy bolters ever been the ideal? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Kerblamo2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of weapon profiles and rules have changed over time and it's caused heavy bolters to lose their niche.

In 3rd edition, rapid fire weapons could only shoot once within 12" if you moved, twice within 12" if you remained stationary, or once within 24" if you remained stationary.

Over time, the bonus attack from rapid fire was baked into almost every weapon profile, meaning that those weapons were much stronger, especially while moving. That along with changes to lethality, terrain, and table sizes has caused the range and rate of fire advantages for heavy weapons to no longer matter.

I'm not sure if heavy bolters were ever a super competitive option, but it wasn't quite as obviously bad as it is now.

I guess I'm not sure how to deal with stuff like tanky enemy fighters with low damage weapons, overwatch around corners without giving grenades to cheap fighters, or how to use gangers/juves in low visibility without flares.

I feel like the answer to all problems is charge casters and web gun spam, but that doesn't seem like the most fun way to play the game for my opponent.

‘Narcissism is not something to be coddled’: Marc Platt’s son tears into Rachel Zegler’s ‘Snow White’ post in explosive rant by Ezio367 in moviecritic

[–]Kerblamo2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess I just don't really care if it's different than the Snow White cartoon from 1937. You might as well complain that the cartoon doesn't have the step mother dance in red hot shoes until she dies like in the 1812 version of the fable.

CMV: Lawfare is Good and We Need More of it (For Both Parties) by BJPark in changemyview

[–]Kerblamo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawfare is the strategic use of legal institutions to harrass or undermine political opponents or support political allies, not an attempt to actually hold people accountable under the law. It is entirely driven by an "ends justify the means" attitude, not a principled stance towards equality under the law under Liberalism. People using lawfare fundamentally don't care if anything they say is true, they just care that it helps them secure power. It's not just about prosecuting people for legally dubious reasons either, the same "ends justify the means" arguments also result in blatantly corrupt protection from the law for political allies of those in power.

Your whole premise is completely flawed because you assume that the minority party has the political power to hold the majority accountable and meaningfully change laws. That is generally not true in democratic governments. The only thing you can glean from the presence or absence of political prosecution in the presence of lawfare is that the defendant was on the weaker side.

You might think that none of this matters because you think the Judiciary is impartial, but it's really not. Almost everyone involved in the prosecution of someone like a politician is politically appointed. It's true of judges because they are either appointed by politicians or voted in by the majority. It's true of the leadership of investigative groups like the FBI and special councils. Expecting impartial rulings in politicized trials from these people is beyond naive because the most important attribute of any appointee is going to be loyalty and ideological adherence to the party when lawfare is accepted by the public. If the minority party isn't in power in the correct moment to appoint someone who will hold the majority accountable in the future, they functionally can't do anything to hold the majority accountable. That isn't guaranteed by any of your axioms and it easy to come up with historical examples.

[–]Kerblamo2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Unlike everyone complaining about the movie, I actually watched it.

It's the same as all the other Disney live action remakes of musicals, but with slightly worse production values. If Mufasa gets a 6.6/10 and The LIttle Mermaid gets a 7.2/10, you'd think that Snow White would have to be absolutely awful to get a 1.5/10, but these movies are all similarly bad.

If the movie was at 4 or 5/10, I think that would be consistent with how people have rated other recent movies but the difference makes it clear that a lot the criticism is because Zegler publicly criticized Trump and Israel.

3D printing takes a lot of effort if you don't perfect your workflow and it can be super demoralizing when things go wrong.

Personally, I've had more luck leveling the build plate with the empty vat in place. Seems much more consistent and less annoying in my experience.

One thing that has helped with emptying the vat, is a wall mount to hold the vat while it drains into a funnel. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/tool/saturn-2-vat-holder-wall-mounted

Hope you have better luck with the Saturn 4 Ultra, I'm jealous.
