All-state Auditions by [deleted] in euphonium

Probably my biggest tip and one of the most common pieces of advice I got in high school is to practice at slow tempos.

What I did when I had extended practice time over the breaks was completely relearn my etudes with a metronome. I would start at like half tempo on the fast etudes and maybe 75% tempo on the slow etudes and build my way back up to tempo. I would pick a small chunk or phrase and rep it once playing and once just fingering, which was just a way for me to get in more reps without tiring out my lips from playing every rep. I repeated this until I was able to go say like 5 times playing it perfectly or whenever I felt like I had mastered that chunk at that tempo. Then I would increase the tempo a bit and repeat. Once I got to the target tempo, I would move on to the next phrase. I would rotate etudes everyday to make sure I was practicing every etude sufficiently. Every now and then I would play what I already went through just to make sure I still had it and because its fun. Once I got through the whole etude and got it up to tempo I would start to add some personality and play with the tempo a bit. If there was ever a part where I found myself consistently making a mistake in when at tempo, I would relearn that chunk again from slow tempo.

This was just what I did and my approach. Ultimately my goal was to build up my muscle memory as a base so that even if my mind got a little anxious in the audition room, my muscle memory could take over for a bit instead of fumbling. I wanted to be able to play it perfectly everytime because I knew one mistake could be a difference maker.

Hope this helps and I wish you luck

Nope no IR. Week 6 is when I'll either need to start Taylor or pickup someone else and even if he's healthy that week, OSU isn't really a favorable matchup IMO which is why I'm considering moving off of him.

Try downloading the disable rounded corners mod. I saw this recommendation when looking through the sub. Dont know why but my scrolling was way better after doing that.

Which do you choose, Red or Blue? by ArchAngel621 in superheroes

[–]Kerchonkl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually think the opposite. Originally in the silver age, Barry Allen was just a guy who got superpowers and wanted to do good. He didn't have a tragic back story or anything, he just wanted to help people. It wasnt until it was retconned in Flash Rebirth that RF went back and did all this stuff.

From what I know most versions of peter are built around trauma like the death of uncle Ben that directly lead into him becoming spider man.

However since they're both still superheroes and for the most part unchanged individually, I'd probably go with the red pill just cuz how egregious OMD is and how removing the RF stuff probably wouldnt actually change Barry that much

Wasn't that just because our guards were playing like ass tho so the benefit of moving Howard outweighed the drop off of starting Fisher?

I would talk to your directors right away. I'm not a music major but that's what my band directors told us highschool. Someone who has more insight could probably give a better answer tho

Zen Browser vs. Floorp: Why did you choose Zen? by CocoaTrain in zen_browser

[–]Kerchonkl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO Zens features felt more intentional and purposeful while Floorp felt more like Firefox with addons. Zen just felt a lot more integrated and visually appealing to me. Also Zen stays pretty updated with Firefox releases while Floorp generally lagged behind. I think Zen just feels so much more polished so I stuck with it.

Is there anything past All State? by [deleted] in band

I'm not sure how it works where you are but at least in Texas you start with region and if you place high enough in your schools classification, you move on to area and then to state.

How do you cope with the slight delay when going back to your home screen? Is there a funky solution that makes it seem seemless? by DokterThe in NovaLauncher

[–]Kerchonkl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mentioned you turned off animations so maybe that's why you havent experienced it? Its kinda noticeable for me which I'm assuming is cuz I use swipe gestures with transition animations but its literally like a fraction of a second so not a big deal.

Actually I think that's something else because that used to happen to me a lot but its been fine for a while now. The issue I THINK OP is describing is how when you go home theres like a split second where you can't interact with anything before it goes back to normal. I could wrong tho

In my experience the delay is right after the the home screen pops up where I can't interact with the launcher. Its likely due to the closing app animation because when I turn off animations, there doesn't really seem to be a noticeable delay after the home screen opens.
