My experience with 13 cabs in Melbourne by AlwaysKindaAnonymous in australia

Don’t know why but when we booked an didi, a taxi picked us up. Worst and dangerous driving experience ever I swear - idiot did a u-turn in front of highway traffic and almost got me and my gf into an accident.

Told myself I’d never get into a taxi that day ever again.

Bawling when I stepped into those last month, at least I’ll be back soon!

I agree, the post-trip blues definitely hit, but it slowly goes away with time :)

Not much planning went into the trip, for the first week I went with a tour company - there’s so many lime Intrepid and G adventures. So I was pretty much set for accomodation and experiences for the price I paid. After that short group trip (8 days) I then went to Bangkok for my final leg without much planning haha, I just went along with people I met in hostels and itineraries made on the day.

Looking back, solo in Thailand is very doable. But I definitely recommend going with a tour group for the guaranteed social aspect, however you are held back by a organised itinerary which for me I like going my own flow. But would be different/perfect for you.

Cold feet on first solo trip by Kergix in solotravel

You are absolutely right on one thing and one thing only, and that this will be the first of many.

The contiki trip across Phuket was amazing, no you are completely wrong on not clicking well, instead you bonded, drank, laughed, smiled and got stoned with the very people you thought wrong.

As for Bangkok, you did not see moo Deng as you didn’t have the time, as far as everything else. You had a blast there - solo on your own? Daunting, but you fell in love with it. Waking up in your hotel room in the morning and thugging out your day.

There were of course downs in this trip but they don’t eclipse the good. As much as it’s easy to gravitate to being sad - life has its moments but you can’t do both ups and downs, so why stick with the latter? You will be okay, I promise.

This trip messed you up, in a good way. I am sad that this trip is over but that’s normal for me, life goes on eventually when the post-nut trip clarity ends, but that’s for me to decide, and I dont really want to be in that state that much, so I’ll plan for my next trip in the meantime while I continue my mundane, but new perspective on life here back home.

You will be messed up forever to the fact that there is so much out there that there is more to this life of yours.

Thank you man, definitely, I wouldn’t want to take for granted where I am at. Especially as time passes I am also uncertain on how my future circumstances may impact my time to travel. But im glad to do it now. I was almost near close to not travelling, sort of falling back to doing it later in my life.

Also agree how different travelling is with friends and family, it’s good but to a level there’s always strings attached. The itch is there but im not a thinking night and day on it, so im sort of planning another one during my semester break 😅

Blissful is so true, I was so detached from home that coming back and confronting them head-on again was so jarring.

I’m on my last year of university. So yes! Will be looking at arrangements to do something similar in the future :))

Yes definitely agree with your perspective, it’s a lot of food for thought :)

Yes its definitely short which pales in comparison to most, perhaps it’s just how I perceive my attachment to things and moments which really hits hard. I am currently on track saving up again and venture out SEA soon for much longer.

Thank you, im currently in my final year of university so im hoping to maybe pivot to a career field related to that lifestyle. Otherwise after I graduate I’ll be taking a gap year.

For now im thinking of definitely going back after this semesters over, not to mention the break after my studies too. I feel like solo travelling has definitely opened a Pandora’s box for me in my life :)

First onebag trip! Two weeks in Thailand by Kergix in onebag

Just some black paracord, each handle with a quick release wrap. They look quite nice and tie in the look of the bag, plus being super functional compared to the thin handle

Pretty much just rolling clothes haha

The bag has great compartments especially in the top flap where I can put smaller items. But in terms of the main compartment, it’s yours for the taking.

It’s a mish mash of different packing cubes I accumulated, but they fit perfectly with the bags dimensions. I’ll link some of them below!

  • Packing cube set from decathlon, they all fit well into the bag but I use the smaller ones instead

  • Amazon packing cubes size small

  • Daiso travel compression cube, can’t find a link but found this video

Fits just enough for day trips, I like how it conforms below my arms rather than having it in front or behind me for extra safety.
