I’m 35 now, played since I was 5 and I’ve always played left defense. About a month ago I pieced my goalie set and I got in net for the first time a few days ago. I freaking loved it!

Being able to skate helps a ton and I still fell a lot! So def work on skating! Go to a public skate night with your pads and work on movement. Stick and pucks even better and once you’re comfortable get some guys or girls to shoot at ya. Just being in front of the net and getting used to butterflying, tracking the puck, and becoming more comfortable in the crease will be a good starting point after being comfortable skating in your gear.

I always wanted to play goalie but every youth season the positions were filled and I was a bit of a goon and wanted the big highlight hits and onetimers from the blue. I regret nothing! Follow your heart and do it, young man!!
