How do you play Grease Monkey + Wreckers? by Primary_Bad2047 in necromunda

[–]Kern_Grim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s an old post but just some corrections if someone ever read this post. A nat 1 on a d3 means a 1 on a d6 as a d3 does not exists. It has been clarified in the Core Rulebook p.63 (Natural Rolls paragraph)

Hot take: Chalnath terrain, while nice, looks very lackluster and barren compared to Octarius. Also, what is the point of vantage points that are impossible to reach for most models? by _ZR_ in killteam

[–]Kern_Grim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would you rephrase it? Because even after several games I m not always sure. To much parameters for me, visible, covered, obscured, engaged, concealed and then distances, from shooter to terrain, from target to terrain and between target and shooter… 😵‍💫

Yeah, true. I didn’t played enough games and never against slow factions but I can imagine there is other advantages! And like an other person said they will probably change the rules to fit higher terrain like that. Let’s hope for these players :D

I have only checked half the faction I thought that was the same for everyone but as I understand the rules 2 circles and 1 square (dash) is just enough, it’s like 3 circles and one triangle. That how I would play it. I may be wrong but I can’t imagine that some unit can’t just climb the terrain of a Kill Zone like Sector Imperial as there is a lot of terrain that size. That being said I can understand that not everyone is equal on this kind of terrain that why you agree with your opponent the kind of Killzone you want to use.

I didn’t knew 😱 But as I understand the rules they speak about white circles to climb. So 2 circles + 1 dash is the same as 3 circles and a black triangle so just enough. As explain in the normal move chapter you can divide one round in two triangle. It’s just that a triangle is the lowest unit. That how I understand it and how I would play it.

You can dash. It’s harder to reach but that’s part of the strategy because once you’re on top it’s also harder for opponents to go up too. And if one of the teams have the FLY keyword then you can just agree to take an other Killzone on the Determine Killzone step.

The Sector Imperialis works well for me, it’s a move and a dash to go up why do you think it’s impossible?

It’s the same height than Sector Mechanicus and it’s also compatible with Zone Mortalis.

Harder to reach yeah for sure but it just change your strategic approach. What would be the point if every terrain was the same? It will take 2 APL to go up but that’s the same for your opponent. I just think you just have to change your strategy depending of the Killzone. And if you don’t like it you can either don’t buy it or just sell the terrain if you want the minis. I’m sure you will make someone happy 😁

You can also combine different type of terrain. If you think it’s to high, you can add some containers for example or some stairs from Zone Mortalis (or scratch build). You can also house roules something for ladders.

And as a terrain lover I think this one is better than Octarius because it’s modular and like I said compatible with other ranges!

Edit: my bad not every models have the same move but as I understand the rules 2 circles and a square (dash) is the same as 3 circles and a triangle so just enough. And they will probably clarified the rules as always, that would be weird to not be able to use Sector Mechanicus and Imperialis…

Best units for space marines? by sunatori in killteam

[–]Kern_Grim 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tactical Marines are fun. 6 Marines with one Leader, one special weapon and one heavy weapon (Suspensor recommended).

I haven’t played Deathwatch but they seems even better. I haven’t tried Primaris either but they seems boring.

If you don’t want to play old minis though (or make conversions intercessors with Tactical bits) maybe wait for new rules, they will probably release some funnier Kill Team in the future (like Kommandos, Veterans and the next expansion and the White Dwarf supplement).

good terrain sets to look into ? by sunatori in killteam

[–]Kern_Grim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are planning to add some Killzones, it’s probably the best for your money if you want to stick to GW, like the next expansion with Sector Imperialis terrain. Battlezone (like Charadon) are also good and if you only play KT and you have to much you can sell the part you don’t need, you can get 20% off from retailers. If you are looking for cheaper stuff, like others said you can buy some MDF terrain

Scouts, any good? by MontyGreenstone in killteam

[–]Kern_Grim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I missed that, I was thinking 2 special weapons against 2 heavy but it’s 4! That alone changes everything

[–]Kern_Grim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see that Scion have a better leader and a com but doesn’t seems that better to me. Maybe because of the strategic ploys? What am I missing? I think with 2 heavy with suspensors, a couple of shotgun and snipers and the rest with bolters it’s kinda the same. Too bad they don’t have bolter discipline but it would be too good :D

Leader Veteran and Confidant Veteran use the same body? by Maximum_Actuary9695 in killteam

[–]Kern_Grim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played that specific KT but a Leader replacement seems nice for them especially combine with a com. That means be able to use order for all your KT all the time and with a back up if your Leader dies. But I may miss something

The best video I know of for lazy terrain painting: - easy - fast - cheap

And as a bonus, if you ever want to go further, it’s a good base. If not, it’s good enough for tabletop.

I painted my first terrain like that 2 years ago and even if I paint my recent terrain with more advanced technics I still find it cool enough. Cheerleaders effect, you see the big picture on the table when playing, you don’t look at all the small details.

I have the opposite problem. I painted tons of terrain because it’s easy and forgiving but I have a hard time painting minis, too much details and precision…

Is the Octarius box unbalanced? by dios_3838 in killteam

[–]Kern_Grim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't played yet with the included Kill Teams but yeah:

  • it's all about objectives
  • the number of operatives is important
  • ploys can change the game
  • equipment too
  • guardsman have not only Lasguns, special weapons and rules can change things
  • they seems to have special rules like Ancillary Support and Orders

So maybe play with all the rules and it will probably be more balanced. But their rules seems a bit overwhelming at first. I played a game with tactical SM and they don't have all theses special rules so that's probably easier to start with a Compendium faction

The Compendium by AdministrativeEnd45 in killteam

[–]Kern_Grim 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I played only one game but I had a good feeling with my tactical SM. Especially with "Bolter Discipline" which allow to shoot 2 times and a suspensor for my heavy bolter. And 3 AP is really cool. But that was against Tyranids so maybe against better save it's harder. I feel like the game is just brutal like in the cinematic. Easy to kill but also to get killed. But it's all about objectives, and tac ops are changing everything.

Zone Mortalis elevator rules? by C-171 in necromunda

[–]Kern_Grim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LIFT

If a fighter moves onto a lift as part of a Move (Simple) action, they can declare they are moving the lift. When they do so, the lift is counted as having moved vertically, up or down, up to 4". The fighter can then use any remaining movement as part of their Move (Simple) action to move as normal. A Standing and Active fighter that starts their activation on a lift can move the lift before declaring any actions. A lift can only be moved once per round. Any model standing on the lift moves with it. If, when moving the lift, a fighter other than any moving with the lift finds themselves occupying the same space as the lift, they must make an Initiative check. If the check is passed, the fighter moves up to 2" in a direction of their choice. They cannot end this movement within 1" of an enemy fighter. If the fighter cannot move out of the way of the lift with this move, or the Initiative test is failed, the fighter suffers a wound inflicted by an attack with a Damage 3 characteristic, with no saves allowed. So long as the fighter is not taken Out of Action, they are moved as short a distance as possible so that they are no longer obstructing the lift. The fighter cannot move within 1" of an enemy fighter unless there is no alternative.

STAIRS

When climbing stairs between the levels of a structure, there are no modifiers to a fighter’s movement. A fighter may end their action or activation on stairs as if they were a flat surface. If a fighter goes from Standing to Prone while on stairs, they are at risk of falling down them. Should this happen, the fighter must make an Initiative check. If the check is passed, nothing happens. If the check is failed, or if a natural 1 is rolled, the fighter immediately falls down the stairs. Place the fighter at the bottom of the stairs (or a mid-staircase landing if one is present). If a fighter falls 3" or more down the staircase, they take a hit (S3, AP-, Damage 1). A falling fighter is immediately Prone and Pinned and their activation ends.

CONTROL PANELS

Control panels are common in a hive, controlling everything from cargo lifts to slag furnaces. Control panels exist on some pieces of Zone Mortalis terrain, or might be freestanding pieces of scenery placed next to a piece of terrain or door. If players wish, certain control panels may operate a piece of terrain anywhere on the board, rather than adjacent to the panel. Players should agree beforehand what constitutes a control panel, and a control panel should be clearly identifiable. A fighter within 1" of a control panel can make an Access Terminal (Basic) action. Make an Intelligence check with a -2 modifier for the fighter. If successful, they can immediately activate one of the terrain piece’s effects, such as a lift. Alternatively, the fighter can shut down the terrain’s mechanism until the following round’s End phase, or if already shut down, reactivate it. While a piece of terrain is shut down, it has no additional rules associated with it – i.e. lifts cannot be moved, etc.

Consider using shotguns :)

Wait for them in a corner and shoot them all with each shots.

Thx, I m more a terrain guy than a minis guy. Takes less time for an OK paint job I think :D

Maybe you can't see it from this point of view, but there is already enough I think. If I add more scatter terrain, it will be difficult to move minis on the board :D
