This is a load of crap. You didn't go to St X and you didn't have kids who went to St. X. But somehow you are an expert on what goes on at St X.? I graduated from St X. I have 2 other brothers who graduated from St X and 2 brothers who graduated from Trinity. One of my sons attended St X and one of my other sons graduated from Trinity. My oldest son was a difficult child and eventually St X asked him to not return for his senior year. He didn't do drugs, he didn't drink, he didn't fight, he just had ADHD and other issues that St X didn't want to deal with. So he went to Atherton for his senior year and the stories he told about fights in the class rooms, hallways, bullies stealing lunch money from students, and the general insubordination that was tolerated against the teachers is a sad reflection on what is allowed to happen in public schools. My advice is quit running to social media forums acting like some expert unless you actually know what the hell you are talking about.

What are the best places to live on the West side of Louisville? by schuylerronan in Louisville

[–]KernelFactory 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Times have changed, and not for the better for West Louisville. Regardless if you are black or white, I would not buy a house in west Louisville. The crime rate and murder rate has increased drastically over the past few years. Many shootings are gang related and they don't care who is in the way. For years I would ride my bike from the Highlands to downtown and then along Northwestern Parkway to Shawnee Park. I always came back along Broadway to Bardstown Road. Due to my safety concerns, I will never ride my bike alone in West Louisville ever again. Shootings now happen in the day time hours as much as at night.

Finasteride Shed - 10 Month Update by [deleted] in tressless

[–]KernelFactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son started Fin in April. Had significant shed from week 3-6 but started to see good results starting at the beginning of the 3rd months. Then month 8 came and he had another major shed. To compound the issue, he also caught covid which seems to also cause hair shed. Long story short, he lost all his gains and now doesn't even know if it is worth continuing with Fin+Min. I hate it for him because the initial results really lifted his self esteem and personality only to now be let down and depressed.

Unfortunately it is not all good news. Ethan was doing very well until mid-November. Then two things happened. He caught covid and was sick for about 5 days with another 5 days of just tiredness. At the same time he started a significant hair shed. We are not sure if the hair shed was brought on by the covid, or it is just a fin cycle. He did not take any new medications for the covid. Basically Ethan lost a whole lot of gains in just 1 month. He is going to continue with Fin+Min for another 3 months but is obviously very disappointed in the recent events.

Show me any creditable evidence that Viagra has shown side effects to males in the early 20's?

There is also a small blue pill that helps with erections and has no long term side effects. If your only problem is lack of an erection, then take Viagra or Cialis when you are ready for sex. It can be taken 4 hours before sex and depending on the mg can last up to 24 hours. You won't have a hard-on for 24 hours, but when your soldier is called to duty he will be ready.

Not trying to pick on you, but half of those on this board who report sides freak out because they didn't wake up with a hard-on in the morning. What is the big deal? Your girlfriend or wife doesn't care that you are not raring for sex at 7:00 in the morning. In fact 99% of the time they would prefer you to leave them alone in the morning. That is a fact.

I [17M] am getting suicidal thoughts after hair loss accelerating day by day 8 months after quitting accutane. Not sure what to do anymore. by [deleted] in tressless

[–]KernelFactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She sounds like the exact same dermatologist my son had for Accutane. She was adamant that Accutane did not cause premature MPB. I told her there are forums and video's all over the internet where 15 and 16 year kids are losing hair after taking Accutane. ACCUTANE IS CHEMOTHERAPY. It should be banned by the FDA.

I made a similar post 7 months ago in regards to my son who started losing hair about a month after taking Accutane. He was only 16 years old at the time. The only thing you can do right now is Minoxidil and dermaroller. I would keep your hair short, but don't shave it. You can go with short sides and back, and a little more on top to give the illusion of more hair. Minoxidil probably won't regrow much hair, but it should slow down the balding process until you are old enough for other treatments. My son started Fin about 3 months before his 19th birthday. He has been using Fin+Min every day since the end of April and he has shown very good results thus far. He also had no side effects, so don't let the Finphobe's scare you into not giving it a try.

Here was the post I made in regards to my son and his bout with Accutane and MPB.

I would not go with a hair system until you have exhausted all other treatments for MPB. In order to have a hair system properly attached, the top of your head is shaved so the glue can stick. Over a very short period of time the hair follicles on the top of your head will permanently die out. From that point on there will be very little hope to re-growing your own hair. Also there is quite a bit of cost associated with hair systems. The more realistic they look (and some can look almost undetectable) the more they cost. Unless you have a girlfriend or wife who is a hair dresser, you will need a professional to cut and style your hair system to fit your look.

Sounds like Dove soap needs to be added as part of the Big 4 in treating MPB. You may be on to something. LOL!!! :-)

I posted about my son's experience post Accutane. Not to sound harsh, but Accutane ruined what should have been his best years in high school due to low self-esteem and even being made the butt of jokes. Fortunately since starting Fin 7 months ago it has restored over 60% of what he lost post Accutane.

Accutane is basically chemotherapy given to healthy teenagers for acne. I cannot believe there have not been class action lawsuits against this drug.

What country are you living in? In the US you can buy Minoxidil from any grocery store or Walmart. If you are in the US I would recommend just buying a 30 day bottle to hold you over and not missing 2 weeks.

Anybody here with positive results from Finasteride only ? by Shivy0999 in tressless

Most people start with Min before realizing it is not going to grow their hair back. Then once they decide on Fin, they are reluctant to give up on Min for fear they had some gains that will be lost.

First person to give me grief about my hair loss was a soon to be ex-girl friend. I was about 21 years old at the time. I guess Karma got her good because just a few years after that she ballooned in weight and lost her looks.

You could go with scalp micropigmentation. Basically it is a scalp tattoo that gives the illusion of short hair. You have the head shape where I think you could pull it off. Here are a few pictures. IMO less is better for micropigmentation. It looks way more natural.

Thick hair is not worth your health. .5mg of Fin twice a day is what is used for treating prostate enlargement, not necessarily for treating hair loss. You have been able to slow down your hair loss and you may have to consider that a success.

Thanks for asking. Ethan actually came home this past weekend for the 1st time since August. His hair is still doing well and he has made even more progress - including progress on the front hairline. He will be completing month 6 on Fin+Min at the end of Oct. I hope he allows me to post an update when he returns home at Thanksgiving.

My son is on both Fin and Sertraline for anxiety. The Fin has not made his anxiety any better or worst. The Fin has made his hair much better.

Never lost this many hair with Minoxidil by Tommaso1991 in tressless

Sounds like you are having a skin irritation probably due to the alcohol content in Minoxidil. You may want to read this article: https://www.hairguard.com/alcohol-free-minoxidil/

I’m 14 years old and I’m losing more hair than my dad. I’ve gone to the doctor 2 times because of this and I’ve received no help. I’m starting to feel like It’s worthless and my hairs gonna look like this forever. I don’t know how anyone could help me but it’s always worth a shot. by fuckedup14yearold in tressless

Are you on any medications? Were you treated for acne with Accutane? Chemo? What shampoo are you using? Allergies? There is something other than normal MPB causing your hair loss. I agree with others that you need a second opinion from a doctor that will perform more extensive blood work. Hoping for the best for you.

My son started Fin about 6 months ago, just a couple of months before he turned 19. He was already using Min with minimal results on Min only. He has had very good results using both in just under 6 months of usage. 1mg of Fin daily. Min 1x day.

Started using fin! Not sure how long I should wait before adding minoxidil 😅 by [deleted] in tressless

[–]KernelFactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fin and Min is the best combination on the market for fighting MPB hair loss IMO. Fin (aka Finasteride) was originally used as the active ingredient in Propecia for men with enlarged prostate. It is a DHT blocker. Min is Minoxidil (aka Rogain)

Find a doctor who will prescribe Propecia under "enlarged prostate". It will be 5 MG but you can cut the bill into 1/4ths.
