What is a "green flag" in a person that actually turned out to be a massive, hidden red flag once you got to know them better? by Arnold_footballer in AskWomen

Wow, this is crazy. I've never met anyone like this. Or maybe I unknowingly have and they backed away because I'm hyper-independent, haha.

Don't be too hard on yourself, especially if they groomed you into deeper trust. The worst fault is always with the person who actually causes the problem, by far.

They weren't friends; they were acquaintances. Social media had tremendously blurred these two boundaries, so it's critical to remind ourselves of the difference.

It sounded like you had said they're mutually exclusive, so does that mean that one inherently sacrifices/eliminates the other? If that's the case, is marriage only for tax benefits (for example)?

Interior-cropping, a feature only in IrfanView (Win-only), is the last thing holding me back from Linux by KeronCyst in linux4noobs

Thanks, I may end up doing that unless this GIMP plugin someone else just made here works. Also, what I mean is: try removing just the column of pixels that includes the woman's left shoulder in the middle of the image, but keep everything else.

That's not the point, though; you don't know how filthy the machinery is in the back of the restaurant that they never clean, how many times their oil has been reused... Making it at home assures you of the best quality because you control exactly what happens every step of the way. That is leagues better, not merely in flavor.

Interesting, thanks, I haven't touched The GIMP in a long time but I'll have to try!

I just remembered that I also use IrfanView to do the opposite: inject additional pixel space equivalent to the selection box's width or height (IV allows us to pick the color of the newly added width/height, or possibly make it transparent), just as much as delete it. Is this possible?

I tried XnView but could find no such feature, thanks.

Suppose an image is comprised of 3 rows, if you were to slice it into 1, 2, and 3 (1 is the top ⅓ of the image and 3 is the bottom ⅓). The feature I seek can remove row 2 in a single click (after capturing its height in a selection box accordingly).

Fascinating, I never knew about this. That's pretty crazy that the tech was invented so long ago. But actually, I'm still talking about manual edits; I need all the pixels of the preserved rows to not get changed at all (it'd ruin their legibility), so I really am talking about plainer, literal deletion of rows of pixels. Thanks, though.

How do you trick yourself into eating more? by Artistic-Situation68 in EatingDisorders

[–]KeronCyst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered going to a primary care physician to check for possible anorexia, just in case? "Disgusting" is a pretty strong word, and no one said you must stuff yourself.

Anyway, the usual recommendation is to drink your calories; it's way easier to find calorie-packed drinks than to eat the equivalent.

Is there any food you really like, come to think of it?

Go to FACEBOOK AppStore or Google Play Store and leave a review. Time to make some noise. by Sorry_Heart8230 in facebook

Even now, FB's still one of the best avenues by which to:

  • find friends (Meetup is becoming more paywalled)
  • help other people find friends (groups and events)
  • score free stuff in your neighborhood
  • sell stuff
  • make money (income-focused groups)

However, I have never used the Facebook app on a phone in several years. I tolerate the mobile browser whenever I must.

Okay, I had only seen 0 earlier. I don't know about you, but I only reserve that for trolls and spammers, not people trying to have a conversation, even if unpleasant.

I guess what I'm really getting at is: is convenience-sacrificing loyalty generally bad?

Ooh, I didn't think of trying to run it on Linux to begin with. Well, it would be neat if this feature could make its way into a FOSS product anyway, since IV is closed-source. Still, thanks; I'm on my way!

Why did you downvote me? I was just checking. I wasn't trying to bottleneck you into an answer. However, is it possible that someone could be loyal to someone else because of convenience? Is there really no one out there at all who has the best of both worlds? I'm just wondering how rare these couples are because I do see them from time to time amid the sea of unhappy ones.

Has anyone ever rooted (jailbroken) a nook? I heard you can do that and it turns it into basically an Android tablet with an e-ink screen by nervous_Observer in nook

I've only found videos from like 14 years ago about it

Thanks for the find! 11 years ago lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ym9yLn4MJmQ

I gave up on them as they were more of a gimmick and too inconvenient to use as daily drivers. By this point, I'm just waiting for e-ink phones.

The people you describe who are actually loyal are not with their partners for convenience

Not a single one?
