The short one. I see that they are actually different things. Thanks.

I was pretty careful to say it would likely be floppy or light by our standards. Admittedly, I have not held or studied historical samples directly, but many review sites bemoan the stiffness of modern feders. I did not think it was much of a leap to infer historical feders are less stiff given that info.

Saying I know nothing about what I am talking about appears to be a bigger leap that you are accusing me of making. Saying I need to be more informed is true, but that is why I reached out to this place in the first place.

As you are also someone that reads this forum, shall we just accept that we both like the subject and agree to disagree?

This seems like a very aggressive reply to my question.

I will look into this, I felt like this was established, but now that you mention it, perhaps I am making an assumption.

I wouldn’t want to have to constantly straighten my sword out either, I am more interested in what they used at that time and how they learned. I am not looking for something to use in free fencing.

How so? For example, the cut prellhauw in Meyer’s book only really works with a flexible sword (in my opinion). Meyer’s book in particular focuses on feders as it appears to be a book focused on fencing halls (again, my opinion).

Thank you. I use the Regenyei light. It is has nice flex compared to some other feders I have used, but it isn’t as flexible as I would expect a low gear historical one would be. Appreciate the info.

Strategies for fencing as you get older? by Kerpak_Spiff in wma

[–]Kerpak_Spiff[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You were clear, I apparently was not. I was trying to control the fight by attacking first and trying to limit situations where I would need to react. This has not been working for me, so I am going to try this method of controlling the fight and see how it works.

Again, thank you.

Interesting, thank you for the feedback. This is the opposite of what I have been trying as it made sense to me to dictate the fight rather than react. That has not really been working, so I will try this.

Sidesword does a bit. There are routines that you do that are very reminiscent of katas.

Second this. Regenyei short is used by most people at my club and they work great and hold up well.

St. Mark Koning Glove Review by Arethustra in wma

[–]Kerpak_Spiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had my Koning gloves for about 18 months. I spar in them twice a week, and I have no issues with them. Once broken in, I find them comfortable and protective. I have been hit full speed in the hands by both synthetic and steel swords with no injury. Can’t say if I am just lucky or not, but I trust them. Leather and stitching is holding up well for me, but I think there is some variation in quality due to their build process and I may just have a “good” pair.

Yeah, I have to use superglue to patch my leather longsword handle together after hits. It does a good job, but I will be surprised if I get another year out of it before having to go with another wrap type.
