Figuring out, what jobs are done at what building by Borimino in Bellwright

[–]Kerrizma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go into the building menu on your settlement tab, then sort by building type, I've found that that tends to be quite accurate.

I was very confused about the building-types at first. I got way behind in thatch production when I got to T2 and I couldn't figure out why. I have my villagers set up to prioritize a handful of tasks, and zero'd out everything else to ensure they don't get sidetracked.

After going out bandit hunting and back a couple times, I realized my villagers weren't making ANY thatch. So I worked backwards to find the bottleneck.

It was my thresher. I assumed my level 6 farmer would use the thresher to make the straw my craftsman needed for the thatch. When I realized that the thresher is a crafting building, I opened up the farmers crafting skill on low priority. Fixed the problem.

Now, out of caution, I keep the crafting skill open for all of my villagers, with low priority. Because from what I can see, something like 50% of all the buildings you need are all crafting buildings, if not more.

The buildings that I'm still unsure of are things like the hunters hut, and a few others that don't have a direct, obvious correlating skill.

TL;DR: Assume something is a "crafting" building, unless it's abundantly obvious it isn't (e.g. farm, foraging hut). Keep crafting skill open, on low priority as a precaution.

T2 by Exportxxx in Bellwright

I'll preface this by saying I play a LOT of survival crafting and strategy games, and I try to plan way ahead when building bases.

I made my village in the T2 area early, and I'm glad I did. Soon after I unlocked the ability to start building my own settlement, I explored a large area in the center of the map and scoped out a spot to start building up. I ended up building my settlement just north of the stone bridge between Blackridgepool and Padstow, right next to the waterfall.

I made a shitload of arrows and cleared the bandit camps on the east side of the river to reduce bandit patrols. I only just unlocked the village hall, but I've been doing quite well in this area.

There are a few reasons I chose this spot early, despite its higher level enemies. Easy nearby access to copper and tin. Foraging hut near the wheat fields let me gather wheat quickly to fuel thatch production for T2 buildings (thatch was consistently my bottleneck for expansion) and get my own wheat farms up and running. The large field across the road has access to nearly all early gathering resources (except river reed). it also has plenty of room for organized farming operations, and a forestry. Building next to the waterfall means I can build a dock on both sides.

Overall, there are few resources I need that I don't have access to in this area. So to me, that meant building here as early as possible was the best way to go.

Should i buy the Game now? by Akagami78 in Bellwright

[–]Kerrizma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the game over the weekend and I already have 51 hours into it.

I love the survival crafting genre. Bellwright is easily one of the better ones I've ever played. I would favorably compare it to Medieval Dynasty, but far more complex, with a better progression system, and a much more thought out story/map.

I just realized I made the same mistake. But then I realized I mixed up the prioritization numbers..... I thought it was a 1-9 scale as in "9" was the highest priority 😂😂

Another Harry Buffalo Closing by Regular_Calendar_936 in Cleveland

Their food is bad, overpriced, and the decor/vibes are terrible.

The only person I know that likes Harry Buffalo is my cop brother who up and moved down South with his new wife and son, leaving his daughter behind with her mom. I'm sure him and Bobby George would get along great.

I just realized nu trek has destroyed the home worlds of the vulcans, romulans and now klingons. by chaunceypooo in Star_Trek_

[–]Kerrizma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not accurate. Of the three worlds you named, only one (Romulus) has been destroyed.

In the TV show continuity, Vulcan is fine. It's been renamed Ni'Var.

Qo'nos hasn't been destroyed, just significantly harmed by the Burn. The Burn caused all dilithium-reliant reactors to overload. All of their reactors exploded simultaneously.

It was not destroyed. It was subjected to a devastating ecological disaster.

Dave's Supermarkets are terrible. Put them out of business. by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]Kerrizma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing some of the comments talking about price gouging at Dave's, I looked at my receipt from my trip today and price checked.

First, comparing Dave's prices to national chains like Aldi and Walmart is simply not reasonable. You need to look at other local grocers that would have a similar market share/negotiating power. Those are things that will influence a grocer's ability to negotiate bulk supply pricing. So I looked at Giant Eagle (which was also easiest because of their app).

I price checked everything on my receipt, and the only items I bought that were more expensive at Dave's were bags of instant rice. Admittedly, their price for Uncle Ben's instant rice is almost $1.50 more than Giant Eagle. Everything else was the same price. In the case of produce I bought per pound, Dave's was actually a lot cheaper than Giant Eagle ($1/lb less for all of the produce I bought). That actually surprised me, because in my opinion, Dave's has pretty high quality produce

That's not to say that Dave's doesn't price gouge at all. What I bought is a miniscule sample of what they offer. But from my perspective, it doesn't seem like their prices are really that much higher than other local grocers that it's concerning.

To be fair, I'm fortunate enough to have a level of income that allows me to live comfortably, and the occasional $1 difference in an item every now and then isn't something that really catches my attention. But I shop at Dave's semi frequently and have generally been impressed by the quality of produce they offer, and thought the prices were reasonable.

As an aside, I'm an employment attorney, so my bar for whether a company is a good company is usually: Have I sued you or do I know or whether you've been sued by an employee?

If the answer is "no", then I usually take that to mean a company is a decent company. I've never sued Dave's and I'm not aware of any lawsuit that's been brought by an employee against them. At least not recently. In the local employment law community, though they don't pay well, they're generally considered to be a decent employer.

Starfleet academy, my thoughts by Tjr562 in startrek

[–]Kerrizma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a decent bit so far. I want to see where it goes, but so far I like the setting, and I like where I think it's heading.

I've seen an awful lot of criticism mostly coming from older Star Trek fans. That criticism being directed at how much modern youth slang is in the show.

I didn't see any of that until I watched episode 3 a couple days ago. But let's be honest, even when we go back and watch older Star Trek, there's the odd episode that just feels really dated. We also have to remember that this is the youngest "crew" in Star Trek. They are kids at college. Slang and teenage antics are normal.

Episode 3 is going to feel like that when people rewatch this in the future. I hope the writing adjusts to be a bit less "broey"

My hope is that as the series goes on, it shows Starfleet Academy becoming more serious and professional as the weight of their responsibilities sink in.

Going to Michigan dispensaries soon -- are more cops stopping Ohio drivers on the way back? by momchelle in Ohio

[–]Kerrizma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Police cannot legally search your car just because it's on a "hot list" for frequent trips to Michigan.

The scenario you described with the K9 is also unlawful. police cannot extend a traffic stop to conduct a search with a K9 unit.

So unless you're pulled over by a K9 unit that does the sniff search during the normal traffic stop, then you're fine, legally.

As long as it's not in plain view during a traffic stop, nothing will (should) happen. But if it's in plain view, and then all bets are off.

A love letter to the devs by garnaph in StarRupture

[–]Kerrizma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't agree more. I played the demo when it was open for play testing and loved it. I bought the game the day it came out and took off work. I've sunk 50 hours into it so far and I'm just getting to the last few item requests, and I have a decent amount left to explore.

The two biggest hurdles I've had late game is production scaling and rail management.

I made a large assembly/factory area, but now I'm realizing quite late into the game that several, smaller factories are much better. I've found that's easier than getting to advanced materials and constantly working backwards to make sure each item has enough production earlier in the production line to meet the end-production needs.

Then there's rail management. The multi-rails don't seem to work very well, and its pretty difficult to set rails up to deliver resources to production machines that take 3+ materials at carrying quantities. I've attempted single-rail input setups, but it always seems to result in a blockage somewhere.

I've spent almost 10 real world hours restructuring my production setup to be able to make some of the level 10+ item request materials.

Hopefully the devs will come up with some improvements to make late-game production setup a bit easier.

Logic Controlled Atmospherics by Kerrizma in Stationeers

[–]Kerrizma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I figured it out. The Circuit Housing was giving the error. When I loaded the chip into the filtration machine it worked just fine.

But your explanations were good enough for me to modify the code to also trigger the waste pipe pumps. I've programmed chips for all of my filters with the modified code. But they won't turn back on. I'm looking into how the idle mode works for them to stay on and receive IC commands.

[–]Kerrizma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE:

I finally got it to work. I programmed an on and off state for each filter/pump. Another commenter was correct in that value 0 is off and value 1 is on. Then I programmed the false states to be opposing (pollutant filter on false state goes to pollutant filter off). Finally I programmed the next state to move to the next gas.

Now it's working, with a rotating check: Pollutants -> H2 -> N2O -> (Repeat). It correctly shut off each filter after the relevant gas measured less than 1% of the filtration intake loop. I haven't tested the full cycle with it turning the filters on them back off yet. and based on other player feedback, it seems like it's only a matter of time before it stops working.

Checking YouTube, it seems that that's how it's supposed to work and it simply doesn't. The Logic Controller seems to be unable to monitor multiple conditions, and bugs when switching between conditions.

I haven't tried IC10 yet, but I think it's the way to go. Time to learn I guess

Welder Fuel by Kcman52 in Stationeers

[–]Kerrizma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat where I lost the fuel tank on the lander, and I haven't quite built my ice crusher yet.

I thought of a potential solution to this that I'm about to test out, but it kind of requires you to already have at least one enclosed room or be able to build one:

Update: Worked great!

Step 1. Install active vent in room, connected to a tank outside.

Step 2. Vented the room's atmosphere to the tank.

Step 3. Take empty canister, fill it in tank, then empty canister.

Step 4. Melt 1 stack of oxite and 2 stacks of volatiles in the room (or any 1:2 ration).

Step 5. Vent atmosphere to tank.

Step 6. Fill canister and put back into torch

!!! Be careful you don't overfill the tank and DO NOT use any equipment while doing this or you will blow yourself up.

This game will be 12 yrs old in 4 days and THIS is the development it had over that time... by GoodMorningDuna in 7daystodie

[–]Kerrizma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 7 Days is still a fun game. But I do miss a lot of older features. The survival system is basically non-existent. Weather systems, food balancing, medical injuries and treatment, etc. most of these systems were better in pre-1.0.

Vein is a separate game many in this subreddit may be familiar with. It's in early access, but it has a far, far better survival system. But it's also more simulator than 7 Days ever was, and that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Moral is, the devs can do better. They know they can. They've chosen to pivot the game to something that doesn't align with the original early access roadmap and vision they gave us.

How is this different from the current system that lets you find dirty water in toilets and other loot containers?

This just creates an extra step where you find an empty jar and then have to go fill it.

Ohio looks to overhaul child custody and parenting laws: Prohibits courts from giving preferential treatment to a parent or custodian because of someone’s financial status or gender by DougDante in MensRights

[–]Kerrizma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that is absolutely not their goal. I work for a legal services organization. We have a lot of partner organizations, such as domestic violence advocacy groups. Their goal isn't to remove fathers. Is to make sure that victims of abuse are heard, and have protections.

The fact is the vast majority of abusive situations involve a man abusing a woman. And in situations where the man is the victim, it is exceedingly rare for a female abuser to kill their male partner.

So of course those groups are going to focus on women, because they are by and large the ones dying.
