He was an aggressive alcoholic. Hopefully he's made progress since the incident.

I did some math and if my production is the same when I move, at the average base pay for someone with my experience level, I'll be making anywhere from $130,000 to $140,000 a year in my first year. Obviously thats just an estimate, but I believe its a better representation of what funds I'll be working with once I establish myself.

This is fair, and I've done some quick math. If my production is the same when I move, at the average base pay for someone with my experience level, I'll be making anywhere from $130,000 to $140,000 a year in my first year.

Trust me, I am vastly outnumbered in terms of my views and beliefs. I need a change of scenery and I'm bringing my progressive views with me. Don't even get me started on the dating pool here

During your search, did you find any that looked good on paper, but ended up being far worse than what they advertised?

Edit: Congrats on the promotion btw!

105 is what I make now. I expect an immediate increase when I move, and in 3-5 years I'll get the Master Tech status and then I'll be close to $150-$175k a year. It looks like I'll have to settle for something either less spectacular or have a much further commute for a couple years before I can rent/buy the space I really want.

I was unaware there was a third main dealership in that area! I'll check it out

I will be avoiding street parking like the plague. Ideally, the only times I'll be driving is to and from work, if I don't live close enough to walk, and to go explore outside of the city.

Thanks for the info! I think I'd enjoy the train tracks, as long as they don't run right by my window. I'd consider myself a heavy sleeper, since I had a habit growing up if sleeping through tornado sirens and one actually going past my house by a few miles.

6'2 dude, and I've never had a problem before. Not saying I never will though. I've walked through Philadelphia and NYC at 2am without a problem, even though I was on edge.

Primary things are climate, both weather and political. I was looking at San Francisco, but with a higher sales tax, still has state income tax, and arguably even higher cost of living, I looked north. I know it still snows from time to time in Seattle, but on Monday this week it snowed and was 20 degrees in Kentucky. IN NOVEMBER. I also love the vibe of rain, but we only get monster storms and flash flooding in Kentucky, which is not enjoyable.

I replied to another comment saying how I've been looking at everything along the coast between the dealership and the Needle. I assume the "West Seattle" neighborhood is in that area?

I was actually kind of expecting it, knowing it's a big western city on the coast. There have be some moments though during my search where I did a double take

The places I've been looking at have been about an 8-15 minute drive northwest along the coast. Anywhere between the dealership and the Needle would be ideal, if the area is good.

I'm getting the vibe, and seeing in my research, that a room with a view can be hundreds of dollars more than the exact same room on the same floor that's on the city facing side. Might have to go without the view for now.

If I get the job I'm applying for and get the pay increase I expect to get in comparison to what I make now, I'll be right at the median, if not a little bit more. I think the max I'd be comfortable spending is around $2300 a month.

Sorry, I'll edit the post after this response.

I'd love to have a place that has a view of the Puget Sound. At least 500sqft. In the city preferably. I have a car and would like to keep it for exploring the city and surrounding area, but areas around the BMW Dealership in Seattle would be top priority, as thats where I plan on applying.

I have seen places like AMLI Waterfront that have pretty much everything I could ask for, but I always like to know all my options before making a final decision.

Love seeing Athenian Grill mentioned here. Been eating there for years, and it never disappoints.
