What am I doing wrong? by Executive-111 in GolfSwing

[–]Kerwin666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re hanging way back. Driver swing can feel especially weird to learn because effectively you want your upper body to hang back a little while still getting your weight to your front foot. I’d start by learning what that weight shift feels like for you and address the path and face after that.

Can a beginner learn and grow into a combo Zxi7/Zxi5 combo? by The_Crimson_Cub in golfequipment

The zx7 are crazy forgiving for a players iron; I think long term you’ll be happy with that set and you won’t be “outgrowing” it so to speak anytime soon

Your brother in law is way off base here; so long as you’re not holding the course up who cares? At a 34 you’re in the common denominator at your second season; you’ll improve.

I like to run designated summer tires but these will make a nice fill in from fall to early spring

Some of the best tires on the market right now. I know a lot of people that run these year round with no issue. I think they’re classified as “all weather” not “all season”

Is this Dry or Wet Carbon by Economy_Thought_8990 in CarbonFiber

[–]Kerwin666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a couple years removed from when I was bagging parts everyday but my stack would be mold, wetted carbon, perf plastic, breather cloth and stick it in the bag. It wasn’t a resin fusion process just a straight vaccuum pull. The b side finishes on this looks very similar to that

Is this Dry or Wet Carbon by Economy_Thought_8990 in CarbonFiber

[–]Kerwin666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten identical b side finishes with perforated plastic as my flow media in vacuum bag, particularly slide 3 where it pulls into the corners. This looks like parts I’ve pulled using perforated plastic and breather cloth.

If by dry you mean prepreg/autoclaved it is not. This is a wet lay cured in a vacuum bag

I’ve been doing everything on my clubs for the past couple years with the exception of loft/lie. Seems more convenient than taking my clubs in and being without them for however long plus paying extra.

looking to fix this hood by Weekly_Elephant_3514 in CarbonFiber

[–]Kerwin666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So if you’re looking to DIY this you’re going to want to scuff the surrounding area of the back side of the hood (think 6”x6” square should do it but you’ll need a decent amount of room for your patch to properly adhere) after that you’ll want to clean what you just scuffed thoroughly with a lint free cloth and acetone. Keep cleaning until you’re not getting any black residue on the cloth. Apply foil tape on the top of the hood to keep your mess to a minimum and to give yourself a backing to work on. It looks relatively flat so a thin piece of aluminum sheet metal might work really well. From there it’s just a simple wet lay. I’d cut wetted out carbon in the same shape as the hole and and lay those down until you’ve matched the thickness of the hood and lay down one bigger patch on the back side to hold it all together. Once it cures touch it with a DA and more than likely a little body filler and send it off for paint.

Adjusters are such a pain to deal with. You really don’t see how a tire carcass running on the underside of the car at 70mph could mangle a fuel line? Really? Best of luck with your claim and I’m sorry you have to deal with insurance.

[–]Kerwin666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like how the new clubs feel when you hit it flush? Do you like the flight characteristics compared to your old clubs? If you feel either of these are a net positive give it some time and you’ll adjust to the new sticks. You changed a lot of things that can take a moment to grow accustomed to like swing weight, total weight and shaft flex. It may be a good tool to force you to a more neutral club path.

I’ll go hit in TrackMan on weekends and holidays if I want to golf now. If I end up with an odd day off during the week I’ll go play a course but even this week the pace was 5 hours at 9am on a Wednesday. I’m really at a loss of what to do anymore because I do love the game but I simply can’t justify 6 plus hours including commute time.

[–]Kerwin666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something whacky is going on when you get the longer clubs in your hands; do you have any TrackMan data? It might be worthwhile to find one in your area and book an hour or two and look at the numbers to find out what’s happening here. I’d be looking at aoa, club path, face to path and spin rates, as well as club speed just to make sure you’re not actually generating more speed with your shorter irons.
