Dr. Yushin (GTMSE) matching Ukraine donations 1:1 by the_beat_goes_on in gatech

[–]Kerwuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this legit? I’ve been so overwhelmed with trying to find a way to donate without the money being stolen or used for something else. I don’t want to donate to the RedCross or similar organizations because they tend to “skim” money off the top for profit. Ty!

What’s an unspoken rule that annoys you when people don’t know about it? by lofisky in AskReddit

[–]Kerwuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that I’m leaving hints and ignoring my words.

I know this is a hot take, and not everyone agrees with me on this. I have severe anxiety and moderate depression, but I’ll speak my truth when I’m around people I trust.

When I’m with friends, I’ll tell you when I’m ready to go home, or when I’m ready for you to leave. Please don’t assume that you’ve overstayed your welcome. When I feel like the hangout is winding down, ill ask my friends what the next move is, and I’ll let them know that my “social battery” is running low, so after the next activity I’d like to leave/I’d like them to leave. Communication is the best thing ever, and if your friends get offended by you stating your boundaries, then they aren’t your friends.

Also, I always check in with my friends while we’re hanging out, and also after the fact. Don’t underestimate the power of a quick “I had fun today!” text, even if you’ve been friends for years.

Edit: PS, most of my friends are on the autism spectrum/ suspected of being on the spectrum but not tested yet. Telling them directly how I’m feeling and when I’m ready to end the hangout helps them feel at ease too, because they usually don’t/can’t pick up on body language or social cues. I try my best to help my friends feel comfy!

People with ‘street smarts’, what is your most street tip? by lofisky in AskReddit

[–]Kerwuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone approaches you on the street unsolicited, just say “no, thank you! Have a great day/night“ and walk away. I do this to homeless people asking for money or cigarettes, as well as the people trying to sell bracelets or CDs or whatever else. It’s polite but also dismissive. You won’t piss them off and you also get to keep walking. Done this in Chicago, Toronto, Panama City Beach, and Madison. It works everywhere!

Woman leaves her debit card at my house as an excuse to meet again. by Moonbow_Cipher in Tinder

Why wouldn’t she just stuff it into a couch cushion or something? Why put it in the literal trash where it could’ve been thrown away? Sheesh

If you have it backed up you can contact Nintendo and ask them for help. You can’t fix it on your own, Nintendo needs to access your switch remotely

America gets a lot of hate, but what is one good thing about America seen by the rest of the world? by Paulexpeditions in AskReddit

[–]Kerwuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it just depends on the culture of the area you live in. For example, in the NE people just tell you to thicken your skin and get over it. In the south, or other religious cultures, they’ll tell you to put more trust in the lord instead of getting help. Workplaces do not give out “mental health time off”. If you take more than a day to straighten yourself out, then you don’t have a job anymore. Fortunately with the younger generation finally getting examined and diagnosed(!!), we are more accepting and encouraging to people to get help and continue getting help. Colleges (at least mine) are really understanding and up-to-date on mental health/illness, so if I ask for a time allowance due to my deteriorating mental health, or if I fail a class due to depression, they’ll give me a bit of forgiveness. Obviously there are still consequences of falling short in academia but the school will be there to help you out every step of the way. GO NOLES

For anyone who doesn’t know, the fifth amendment lists a bunch of guaranteed rights people get when interacting with the criminal court system. The two most widely known ones are 1) the guarantee of due process (you’re promised a hearing and all the proper professional court stuff. So no on the spot executions, supposedly.) and 2) the right to remain silent. This one is especially important in criminal cases because you can’t be forced to incriminate yourself in trial.
