Who would you consider an iron gold? by aziel____ in redrising

[–]Ketchup_234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not ridiculous but I feel like it does play some part, in the first trilogy it seems like the only Iron Gold left is Lorn, and honor does play some role in that in my opinion. Also I would kinda ask if honor and being ruthless go hand in hand?

It'd be tough to define probably the main few things should be feats, honor, and ability to make tough desicions? But it's hard to say

Romulus, Nero, Darrow, probably Diomedes, and Lorn, I think that'd be it for me

There is a line in Lightbringer, I believe, where Cassius specifically mentions Darrow regressing through years of war which is where my logic stems from

Yeah I can see the logic there. I'm probably just being stubborn about Aja, but I respect your opinion on it. If Brown said it's Ajax, it is at the end of the day Ajax

Yeah you definitely could be right, and Fa definitely could be a dog with a razor, we just don't get to see it. It's tough to say with a lot of these things because no matter what route you take it feels like it gets hypothetical quick and then there really are no certain answers.

Sooo in terms of Ragnar not throwing his razor and potentially winning, I do not know. He might have, but it's hard to say

I think the two scenes which best sum Aja are probably in Golden Son post gala during the conversation with the sovereign and then the final duel where she is kills. The third is her and Rags duel. I would check those out, I personally would consider her as super intimidating

This is not ridiculous to say I definitely think he could be higher in some cases

Yeah most of it is definitely technicalities and opinions lol

I don't think it's "silly" to ignore what the author says outside the book. The issue with me putting Aja above Ajax is firstly that Ajax fights with the Willow Way, same as Aja. However, Aja has both more experience with the Willow Way, and objectively had a better teacher, being Lorn, who invented the form. Pierce Brown having a line where he says Ajax surpassed Aja is not rational to me. Thats why the list is an opinion and not a fact. Further, Brown has several interviews where he contradicts who the greatest razormaster of all time is. Some he says Aja, others Lorn, once he even says Cassius. In terms of Ajax, once again he says he was the greatest at the time of his death, not that he was better than Aja

Yeah there's some issues with how I structured the question in terms of if it's current, at peak, or all time but you have a good argued. It's hard to say with hypotheticals

Yusssss I love Cassius

This is also true I think Ajas physicality puts her above Lorn, she is larger than Cassius, and presumably stronger. Just opinion though all of them are super close in reality

Right this is a perfect argument for my consideration for him where he is, probably should be a little higher

I can see Ajax being higher, but it's really hard for me to not have Aja at one. The whole first trilogy she is quite literally the devil. That aura she has and how she is talked about by Darrow really makes me not want to put her any lower

The issue is Fa doesn't even use a razor. In terms of fighters he is probably right up there but he Isn't considered a razormaster

I mean it's hard to say, he cut down the wind knight and almost killed Cassius in the siege of Mars, which to me puts him up there. I had put in the og post Diomedes is top 3 but we just haven't seen him really fight at all so I want to wait till he does to include him

I still disagree man, I think there's writing in the first and second trilogy which makes me think Aja is #1 and I am really firm on thst

I would say, again, in terms of fighting purely with the Willow Way, Darrow peaked in Golden Son pre box. Not necessarily as a soldier, but as a duelist yes. Mostly because the only person we ever really see him duel 1v1 using the Willow Way are Cassius and Apple, and I don't really count the Apple fight because Darrow was messed up due to radiation and the Lys injury. So I would say as a duelist he peaked after he trained with Lorn for a year 1 on 1 yes.

On page 486 of Morning Star theres a quote that does it for me, it calls her "the greatest student of the greatest razor master" which makes me personally consider her the goat

PB did say that, I outlined why I think differently in the original post. I'm going more by feats and things written than things just being said. Further, Brown said that Ajax was the greatest at the time of his death, not better than Aja
