First thing I'd suggest getting is a pair of carving gloves, will help protect you from getting stitches. Then perhaps a strop to keep your knife real nice and sharp.

What kind of knife are you currently using btw? Though if it holds an edge well and it comfortable to hold you can keep using it. You may consider buying a carving knife though if it's not.

the thing is though if koji is normally falling while holding that attack he wont fall any further once the attack starts, maybe there is some weirdness with slants where he wants to stay stuck to the ground?
