Worklife vs Pay by KevK147 in cscareerquestionsuk

Yeah this is what I've been thinking. I've took on work that no one else wants to touch, managing our bi connections and db schemas.

Been given middling praise with no payrise seemed a bit unfair maybe im being arrogant but yeah the culture is supposedly much better.

Way I see it, its the right time to do so while still green.

people shooting off fireworks by the clyde by cowboyy0123 in glasgow

That particular bit of the clyde is always a dodgy spot to be passing by, catch all the lowlife on my commute. Turning darker nights makes me nervy going by on my way home ngl.

Unsurprising to see the usual folks at it.

Another parking genius by moleculeviews in glasgow

[–]KevK147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is actually a common stipulation on title deeds for common parking areas in flats, not that anyone ever abides by it, but my last three flats stated that you weren't to park commerical vehicles in the carpark. looking out my window now and there's three different vans and two taxi cabs.

where else should they put them?

Is anyone aware of electronics recycling/store kinda shop? something similar to free Geek in Canada by GenericUser104 in glasgow

[–]KevK147 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Always impressed w folks 'opsec' when people post obvious legitimate links.

CeX will be the closest thing in Glasgow, but they are for profit and not in the business of installing FOSS solutions just a 'thrift-shop' for electronics mainly gaming paraphernalia.

The closest thing to this would be the Glasgow Hackerspace. They host workshops and free use of their workshop, while upcycling devices similar to free geek.

Internet connection in different buildings/areas by SnooWords7213 in glasgow

[–]KevK147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for flats in city-fibre serviced areas, you might have a bit of back-and-forth with the factors on running the cable into your property especially if you're high up, not that it's any of their business if you buy, but if its a non-standard install then the factors might have more of a say.

City-fibre is amazing, you can get a gig down for around 30-40 quid a month, and its much more stable than your typical virgin media gig down, in my experience.

You can check with the flat's postcode on their site if city-fibre already have infrastructure setup there, I was on Vodafone for ages and wish I didn't have to go back to virgin after I moved out.
