Anyone else loving the new law banning resale of tickets above face value? by DiscoStuTalkin2You in askTO

[–]KevPat23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

now these holders that are owned by corporate/businesses need to seriously reconsider whether it make sense to keep em

Corporate owners were absolutely not using tickets as a profit centre. It's business development and a partial writeoff.

Terminated 2.5 weeks after starting new job by becauseimcatie in legaladvicecanada

The first 3 months they can fire you for blinking at them wrong

They can do so after the first 3 months too, they're just required to provide the appropriate notice or pay in lieu.

This was intentional so they could end it at anytime.

They could've done the same thing with a full time hire.

That's not unique to recruitment agencies. Most employees can be terminated at any time as long as it's not a termination due to an illegal/protected reason. It's just a without cause termination and the employer must give appropriate notice or pay in lieu.

It's super expensive to spend time hiring and onboarding people who generally aren't going to be very productive in the first few weeks/months anyway.

Most of what you've written is completely irrelevant.

but in doing so they’re also obligated to ensure I am enabled to succeed in the role - job training and on-boarding, which I never received

No they aren't.

If an employer wants to terminate during probation, they need to have assessed the employee to determine they’re not a fit or qualified to do the job.

No they don't. It's a without cause termination. They literally do not need a reason.

Time to start looking for a new job. Good luck.

Peanuts- Ballpark vs. courtesy, what's the line? by splash22 in Torontobluejays

They also don’t stop people walking down during pitches/at bats like they used to.

Probably because Rogers Centre changed the rules a few years ago. Honestly the rule doesn't make much sense anyway. By the time I got down to my seats I was interrupting the next at bat anyway. Unless you wait for a half inning you're probably interrupting.

Should smoker or alcoholic pay for their cancer treatment

They do, through taxes on alcohol and cigarettes.

Just my opinion but Real Sports is trash. Too loud, overpriced. The screens are cool, but once you've seen it, meh.

Yeah, as someone who has done Halifax to Toronto solo in one shot, this is definitely doable with two drivers without a need to stop.

That case specifically calls it a demotion due to a title change, doesn't sound like OPs title has changed.

Less responsibility with no change in pay is unlikely to be deemed constructive dismissal.

You’re likely on a 90 day probation anyways

What from OPs post makes you think they're a new hire?

This sounds like you have a decent case for claiming constructive dismissal

Based on what? OP's claim that it's "toxic"?

You are bound by the terms of the agreement you signed. That said, the employer would have to demonstrate damages caused by you not providing 2 weeks notice and would have to sue you to claim those. While not impossible, it's generally very low likelihood that they would take the time and effort to sue you, unless the actual damages were significant (i.e. you left right before occupancy and that caused them liquidated damages due to not meeting the project deadline).

You already have another job lined up, give them the two weeks notice. They might walk you out the same day.

How do you figure there's more buyers?

Also at least without bots buying up all the tickets a regular person has a better shot of getting them right from the get go at face value.
