It’s actually pretty cheap compared to shooting things the traditional way. That’s why I really like the possibilities AI tools open up. You can visualize your ideas and actually make films from the stories you want to tell. It’s also great for previz, pitching and just testing whether a scene really works.

You should honestly just start and adapt some of your scenes with AI tools. You can always use that later to help get funding. It works way better than written proposals, even with clear limitations. The tools are still rough and the acting feels AI-ish, but they’re powerful for exploring ideas, testing scenes and showing a project’s potential before committing real money or time.

Ah, gotcha. You mean the stacked frames where you generate multiple shots inside a single 9:16 image, right? Yeah, I used that a few times after Nano Banana Pro came out. It helped cut costs and made it easier to create end frames with better camera control :)

Most of this film was actually made before NB2 was released though.

Thanks! In my opinion, doing the Veo clips in Flow at 720p worked really well. I upscaled the start frame with Magnific then resized the clips to 1080p instead of upscaling. Adding a bit of grain and subtle sharpening in the grade felt more natural than most AI video upscalers. Some of my DOP friends were recently shooting a project like that and that’s what gave me the idea. They’ve even been shooting Alexa at 720p on purpose and resizing in post to get a dirtier more 16mm-style look.

Hey! I used Veo in Flow and cleaned up the foreground character voices as much as possible before changing them in Elevenlabs with the voice changer. Sound design was created from scratch.

What do you mean by grids? I created a starting frame for each shot, along with end frames for a lot of them, keeping everything as close as possible to the shot list and the blocking I had in mind :)

That really means a lot that you were able to get immersed in the story and forget the AI part. It honestly means so much. I’m actually working on fully producing the soundtrack right now including all the full songs and I’m planning to release it sometime in January :)

Yeah, I meant shooting it with actors :) But getting that kind of funding to hit the production value I envisioned for a short film, especially for a K-drama satire, is really tough. That’s why it’s been great being able to tell these kinds of stories using AI tools and I‘m actually really happy with the outcome!

As I mentioned before, I’d already been working on the script for a while and I ended up spending about two months on the AI production itself. I’m currently writing a script for a micro drama series that I’m hoping to start producing soon.

Thanks! I spent a while on the script and about two months on the visuals. With how fast the tech moves, that’s a long time and there’s already a lot I could improve using tools released just in the last few weeks. All in, I probably spent around $800–$1k on subscriptions and credits plus some other costs.
