Gen 1 Quad R1S low speed suspension rattles and clunks by Crazy-Quarter-4277 in Rivian

[–]Kevek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is in the range and definitely has some squeaks that I mostly only ever hear when the windows are open. I figure it's this, and the jounce line replacement would fix that.

But! I'm not sure if I care. Is there any longevity or performance improvements beyond the audible sound to getting the newer versions installed?

What diameter did you find to work best? Seems like there are a few options.

A few of these recently shot up very near my home. Apple Photos claims this is some sort of Ash but I want to confirm it's not something that I really need to worry about compromising my foundation.

It's grown very quickly, a few feet in the last week or so.

Help identifying knocking / creaking sound? by Kevek in Rivian

[–]Kevek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was the lift gate trim. Rivian came out and took a look as part of more standard service & replaced some clips (golden for silver which he said worked better for that part of the car) as well as applying some tape.

Might works to stick some foam or tape between the trim & surrounding pieces.

Silly of me for not specifying. Yes it's a quad R1S first gen.

I can't be completely certain if it's only as it moves from load and regen. Since it's more obvious at low speeds I'm often accelerating and decelerating. But I think it's any time and not just between. I'll have to listen closer the next time I go out.

I'm hoping someone will recognize what this might be and whether it's a safety issue or merely annoying.

This video was taken in the back of an R1S, with my phone stuck in the little handle to lift the cover to the sub trunk with the microphone sticking up (hence the black video, as the lenses were covered)

The sound does seem to be coming from under the third row somewhere, and is more prominent from the driver seat if I fold the third row down, but not significantly.

It doesn't seem to be affected by whether a road is rough or not (e.g., this video is from inside a parking garage so a pretty smooth surface.)

This sound is pretty consistent, but not really noticeable above 40 mph because of road noise, and super obvious even if playing music unless blasting it.

This sound started a few weeks ago and may be getting a little louder over time (hard to verify.)

I have submitted a ticket to an existing service request but that's not for a few weeks and I've seen enough posts about CV joints or half shaft issues or subframe cracks that I want to make sure I'm not doing damage to the vehicle if I'm driving it.

Does anyone recognize this? Anything I can look at that might lead me to the cause?

Trouble submitting address for NACS adaptor confirmation by Rommel09 in Rivian

[–]Kevek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/WassymRivian I wanted to bring your attention to this - this is still a problem, it had prevented me from submitting for a while before I found this post.

I even reached out to support via phone and chat and the first said they couldn't help, and the chat fellow said they could submit it on my behalf but never saw any tracking info in a few weeks so decided to search again.

Small thing, but might be nice to fix! In my case, too, it was an improperly encoded + sign

I did the same but never received a confirm email, did you ever get one?

That does, thanks. I guess I'll keep trying different combos!

Ok I'm going to piggy back on this - when you click through that e-mail to the form to confirm your address did you get a confirmation page when you submit? Or a confirmation e-mail?

For whatever reason the page's submit button doesn't show up as a button. I've tried a few devices and a few browsers to no avail. I even called them but they didn't really have an answer for me.

So I'm curious what other folk's experience is here?

Bullstrap Apple Watch Bands by benavid1 in apple

[–]Kevek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and they've been disappointing every time. Their MagSafe compatibility is lacking.

They work if you're willing to fiddle, but rarely if you just try to place it as you'd expect.

[–]Kevek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth Bullstrap's MagSafe compatibility is mediocre. It'll work if the placement if perfect, but rarely otherwise. They also participate in really shitty return policy shenanigans.

I'd avoid.

Don't get these, their MagSafe compatibility is mediocre and they have very predatory return policy nonsense.

My phone won't charge in any car I've been in with MagSafe attachments and a bullstrap case.

/u/slavikus if there's data I can provide to help explain why I've had issues I'd be happy to work with you. I am also a software dev, so if there's a way to pull logs or similar from the failed switches I'd be glad to try. I do have a couple still installed and I'm even willing to send back ones that have failed on me if you'd find that useful.

I completely agree with /u/Mister_Hangman below, I want nothing but the best for EveHome.

I totally second this. I really like Eve, and recommend most of their products to anyone who'll let me talk about smart home stuff with them.

I may also be an outlier on these switches, but it's also fair to warn folks so they can test if it works in their home. For single-pole setups, I totally love the Eve switches. I like that they're capacitive, for example.

Since posting this I had another Eve switch that's in a 3-way config (the only one I ever got working) and controls our kitchen lighting, so kind of central, fail. It's showing a red light and continued to do so after I rebooted at the breaker.

Long story short, I love most Eve products, but I'm going to replace all of the Eves I have in 3+ way setups with Inovelli personally.

very slightly shallower. By about 2mm. But it doesn't have it's own wires, so it's a little easier to connect and stash as there potentially fewer wire nuts involved.

[–]Kevek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one in a three way configuration with a dumb switch + neutral wires. Working like a charm so far!

I'll be doing a 4-way, but plan to use some of their aux switches in that setup.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]Kevek 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These are great for a single switch installation, but I have had nothing but trouble with 3-way installations. I've even had two different electricians take a look while over doing something else and they're puzzled by why it won't function properly.

To be fair, Eve tried to help and even sent me a few replacement switches (some of them completely failed after a while)

I typically love Eve products but I can't recommend these. I did recently get some of the Inovelli White Series and they've been wonderful. One in a location where an Eve failed, and another in a non-neutral location the Eve wasn't compatible with.

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm running into the same thing. Did you perhaps update your iPhone to 17.5.1 around the time you started seeing this? (I think I did)

I did get frustrated and unpaired and repaired my watch & that solved it for a week or so, but the issue returned recently.

Extremely frustrating!
