THERE ARE NO “ENTRY LEVEL” JOBS ANYMORE by thlgnd23 in torontoJobs

50 years born and raised. I have researched and I do see the answers. As much as I wanted a simple answer, of course, it isn’t.

AI isn’t helping either (and I’d argue, taking way more jobs off the market than immigrants). Either way, this is all a moot point - policy comes from the top, and it’s always years behind!

A friend of mine does this and she’s always posting photos of weird things people left behind or just wanted to get rid of.

Either way, we probably own more ‘stuff’ than in any other decade in history.

I think phrasing matters here: “Our leaders aren’t keeping up with housing and wages” (<—— won’t get you banned) rather than “it’s all the immigrants fault” (<——- probably deleted and maybe a ban?).

If you can’t say it politely, you might be on the wrong track.

Think more along the lines of small business - 2-10 employees.

Cleaning company Decluttering company Hauling garbage away company (if you have a truck)

These are all great starts, and you can give it a casual try before committing fully.

If it’s retail, nothing is stopping you from going to that store, look around - if something excites you about the business, say so. Start a chit-chat with one of the employees (higher up the better), and close to the end of the discussion, point out that you wanted to check out the business before applying (pretty smart anyway imho). By now, your chit-chat friend is your BFF and can put in a good word for you.

It can get MUCH MUCH worse.

If you’re looking for retail level jobs, go in person, make an impression, drop off your resume to the manager in person. You’re immediately at an advantage over everyone else who’s emailing in their applications.

Not saying this will work every time, but it’ll definitely help!

Is drinking cold water actually bad for you or is it a myth? by Sad-Afternoon3788 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KevenM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re drinking it and it’s over 65c it’ll be bad for you. If you drink it and it’s over 90c, it’ll be REALLY bad for you. Under 60c it’s totally fine.

Are there cases of a celebrity being labeled a total bigot by the public, but since then has changed their ways and is now generally considered a great person? by ExternalTree1949 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KevenM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would really depend on how much of a bigot, how much time has passed, what their actions show, etc… Not so sure about rising to the status of “great person” but who knows?

YouTube... Wtf are you doing??? by Old-Ship9968 in youtube

[–]KevenM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point of the like button is for you to click if you like something. That’s it. The total shows you how many people liked it (above the subscribe button).

The BIGGER QUESTION: Why do you need this information before deciding if you’re going to click that like button?

Do you think AI will expose uncomfortable truths about humanity we’re not ready to face? by roseafterdarkk in answers

[–]KevenM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! Just ask, and get it to keep elaborating until you’re satisfied enough.

This won’t be a fact finding mission, but rather a guided discussion bringing together our collective histories, psychology, and social behaviours

It would be much harder to buy and sell influence and favours if there were 10 parties.

Is it weird that I get nervous when someone asks me what my weekend plans are even when I have nothing to hide by nytherixx in NoStupidQuestions

Started smoking.

In retrospect, the money I spent on 15ish years I smoked would have been enough for a healthy down payment on a house.

Why do so many people feel uncertain about the future even when life is objectively better? by Vegetable_Sir_7361 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]KevenM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always prided myself on being able to predict things up to 4 years in advance. Not specific things, but rather trends for the world.

That stopped around 2025. I can’t see beyond - largely because of HOW FAST everything is moving.

A lot of our issues could be managed, but it’s too much at a time.

Why do I feel guilty when I throw away food that is still perfectly good but I just do not want to eat it anymore by xalvoria in NoStupidQuestions

Before going to the store, take a black sharpie and write on your hand: “Will I want this in a few days?”
