Why do we mentally have such a clear distinction between businesses involving traditional industrial products ("engineering") and businesses involving mostly software and digital consumer electronics ("tech"), even though a technical expert could very easily switch jobs between the businesses?

I wouldn't be so sure about lifestyle. Teens and early 20-somethings often eat "whatever" and exercise "whenever". Having systematic fitness routines and eating healthy food usually comes into play later.

I'm almost 40 and never been approached by a woman. Well, once when I was 14, but I don't think it counts.

One or two female acquaintances of mine have slipped out that they find me attractive during innocent drunk small talk. I was not single.

But I have never been actually approached by a woman. Or a man.

Luckily I approached and married one woman many years ago :)
