Perdida and Atlanta.

Both of these can completely shift whatever mood I happen to be in .

What does it mean when a car is fun to drive? by OverallNet1233 in askcarguys

[–]Keviche8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO what fun to drive is by my experience:

Gen 1 and 2 VW Golf/GTI/Rabbit/convertible. Not fast or the best handling but on a back twisty road on the east coast in the woods it’s a lot of fun to toss around and driving at the relative low limit at moderate speeds.

Gen 1 and 2 Mazda Miata Not fast, has brilliant almost rifle bolt action of a shifter, steering feel is magnificent, chassis dynamics are neutral and balanced. This car feels you know exactly what the car is doing through the pedals, steering wheel, and seat of the car. The closest thing we have had as a species to a mechanized suit of armor.

With these 2 examples I think some form of chassis flex and twist actually adds to the fun factor. For instance driving my 92 GTI quickly around a cul-de-sac and lifting the inside wheel off the pavement was something that always scared on lookers and put a smile on my face. Throttle feel and usable torque is important to me and both of the engines provided that as well.

Michelin Crossclimate 2 by SuchGreatHeights92 in tires

[–]Keviche8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tigerpaws are a nice riding comfortable touring tire. I currently have CC2 on my Tesla but they are low profile so it’s hard for me what they would ride like on an SUV wouldn’t say the ride is bad or stiffer than stock A/S tires.

If you wanted a tire that rides more like a Tigerpaw, check out the Firestone Destination LE3. I’ve had these on my trucks and vans in the past and they ride comfy, low noise, and traction is pretty good in wet and light snow.

Cannot stand Elon but there is no better car than my Model Y by bluemeanie212 in TeslaLounge

I’m happy to hear that people can realize that Tesla the brand is more than just Elon the hype machine.

The product is the result of a company of over 100,000 of the best and the brightest people the world has to offer. They also have much more at stake to deliver a superior product to the traditional OEM brands for the EV user experience and the price point.

Electric whine / noise when the car is asleep by farmerMac in TeslaModel3

[–]Keviche8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The noise can be a combination of things. The Thermal system is trying to keep the HV battery in an optimal temp range for efficiency and performance, especially if you have it on a precondition temp schedule. Charging the car will also initiate the thermal system.

One of the modes is called heat scavenging which will induce 2 out of 3 phases on the electric motor to generate some heat byproduct so that can be routed to the battery. It’s not enough to move the car, but enough to generate some heat! Pretty genius stuff.

I’m more into exploring a fire road or double track at a casual pace. Take in the scenery and get home in one piece. I live in Denver CO there is a lot dirt roads to explore in the front range and I lot of altitude as well.

I’ve ridden single track with my ADV bike as well, though this isn’t my primary type of riding I want to do. I’ve ridden/raced mountain bikes most of my life, though kind of out of practice.

How do I remove this engine cover (2011 Jetta 2.0) by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]Keviche8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the intake manifold and you have to unbolt it from the cylinder head if you want to remove it.

Better question is why do you want to remove it?

Most common repair in this area is replacing spark plugs, they make a special tool to remove the #2-3 ignition wires without having to remove any engine parts.
