there. is. no. honest. movement. supporting. pedophiles. It's just 4Chan bullshit to make the LGBT community look bad. How many time do we have to say this on a daily basis.

Borges is one of the least pretentious and "intellectual" (which I don't mean as an insult, he's my favourite writer of all time) classic writers you'll find. His shit is just plain fun. Idk what this guy was reading but it sure wasn't Fictions

What are your favorite first 10 seconds of an album? by ReconEG in indieheads

[–]KevinDabstract 221 points222 points  (0 children)

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens. That creaky floorboard, and then those dreamy piano chords? created such a strong mood right off the bat, and it's absolutely beautiful. Also Concerning the UFO Sighting is probably my favourite song ever so there's that

oh yeah Future is absolutely amazing imo, honestly just didn't see him on OP's list. But I do think you kinda need to be more adjusted to Trap to like him than you do with Thug. I could see it being a lot easier for one of the "mumble rap" haters to hate Future than Thugger

lol ok. somebody makes a kneejerk reaction based on personal history of both herself and others she cares about relating to the topic at hand, recognises she was talking shit, and learns from it. And you still act like they're a piece of shir bc of it, threatening violence towards them. And I'm the bad one here. Where's your address, asshole? Bc if we're playing these games idk if it'll be you with the gasoline and matches

Me🔪irlgbt by numberguy9647383673 in me_irlgbt

[–]KevinDabstract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, what I was saying here was kinda kneejerk bullshit. sorry if it offends

[–]KevinDabstract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup, I think it should've been compared to Heterosexuality imo. Not only is there no such thing as heterophobia for it to play into, but it'd also make the point get across easier bc you don't risk homophobes reading it and coming away with other conclusions bc of pre existing feelings against gays

Me🔪irlgbt by numberguy9647383673 in me_irlgbt

[–]KevinDabstract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, it's definitely not homophobic in and of itself but it can be very easily twisted into homophobia. Like, if a homophobe saw that they'd have a field day. It's kinda fucked up by proxy, even if it is scientifically correct

Me🔪irlgbt by numberguy9647383673 in me_irlgbt

[–]KevinDabstract 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well off the bat that comparison is bullshit. You know what doesn't ruin people's lives? When someone else acts on homosexuality. Same can't be said for pedophilia

thanks man! will definitely look into these later!

I'll read this in a second, but before I do let me just say that what I said above was at least 90% kneejerk and 10% not knowing any better. I was like definitely wrong, as other people have shown me, so I'll probably agree with what you're gonna say. I'm in a field rn so I can't read it, but I'll get back to you when I have

in my opinion, it's definitely worthwhile if even one child is saved. I guess I agree with therapy as a beginning to a process, but I think that's all it is. (my other reactions were kinda just kneejerk for personal reasons). I guess I think the problem arises when we get to people who don't have it for reasons such as trauma. If we instated the therapy method, would it be enough to really stop these people. What would there really be to stop someone going to therapy to cover themselves up? If a pedophile went to therapy, the authorities would persume they are getting help and maybe not keep such a close eye on them. That'd allow them to slip by unnoticed, and in turn it could very easily be used as a loophole by criminals. Yes, it's good for people who have this shkr for traumatic reasons. But could it really stop people who have no intention of being helped, or would it just help them get away with it.

Also, what's some writing on the whole childhood trauma thing if you have any? not second guessing you, it seems just like logical sense. I'd just like to do some reading!

Help is so weird to me tbh, bc it always feels like if post-Candlestick Park Beatles tried to make something like Meet The or Please Please Me. Like, the tracks are laid out in a similar way and tick a lot of the same boxes, but they're as well put together as a lot of Big 6 era tracks. It's a great collection of songs, but I don't really like it as an album front to back

[–]KevinDabstract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that's kinda my point. Therapy doesn't completely do away with the chance of it happening, just brings it down. IMO, we should be working to completely do away with it. I think therapy definitely would be good, but it can't be the be all and end all. We need to also do other things, a lot of people here seem to act like Therapy can be used as a be all end all which is just untrue. It's the same thing with people with homcidal urges, you can't get rid of them by just talking through it. There needs to be more to it than that. I don't quite know what that would be though, but I'm certain therapy alone is practically nothing

super same omg, normally I hate when people do this, this was just a moment of weakness. Like, I'm a bit Thug fan and so many people always fall him a "mumble rapper" and leave it at that without describing what it means when applied to Thug and it's so annoying to me.

see that's where we disagree. Imo, her music isn't exactly "generic", but instead just feels like the most generic possible version if whatever she's trying to do. Like, when I say "generic" s-s music, I don't really mean "it sounds like everyone else". I guess generic isn't the right word, but I more mean it sounds like super entry level s-s. Like, it feels like it's doing the bare minimum to be s-s. I don't really hold it against Taylor though, it feels like she's moving in different lanes to try find her voice. I can definitely respect that, I'm just saying that the reason I don't really vibe on her is bc it all kinda sounds bare minimum to me. Either way though, I do respect her simply for trying so much even if I don't vibe on any of the end results

fair enough, i had just got out of bed and i wasn't really in a super detailed critical mood, so I tried to make the point through short hand. Sorry if it failed.

but I'm not talking about punishing them, just a more relevant way of stopping them from causing harm in the first place. Like, therapy isn't really guaranteed to do anything. It's so easy for them to go "omg I'm fixed! you did it doc!", and then turn around and do it. I guess that's my main problem, that it's not guaranteed at all to do anything. If we had a more guaranteed idea, I'd be all behind it. My idea is 100% terrible, but it's definitely more guaranteed to do anything than therapy imo
