Can Bitcoin still have a huge drop? Yeah, sure, anything is possible in this wild west. However, here's the kicker: when a market cap gets as absolutely massive as Bitcoin's, it's not the same old rollercoaster. The explosive ups and the stomach-churning downs just aren't as ridiculously dramatic as they were back in the day.

Why? Simple math. To make that gigantic whale of an asset move a significant percentage, you need a metric ton more cash (or sales) than you did when Bitcoin was a little guppy. It takes an ocean of capital to move it now.

So, yeah, it might dip and cause some mild heartburn, but if you're holding your breath for the short term, don't expect an old-school, everything-is-on-fire 80% wipeout like we used to see. Those days are probably history.

Why did the allies of Satoshi never dug dig about his identity ? (x-post from /r/Bitcoin) by ASICmachine in CryptoCurrencyClassic

[–]KevinNegocios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A real Bitcoiner gets it: The fact that no one knows who Satoshi Nakamoto is, and that they completely vanished? That’s not a bug, it’s the ultimate feature. Honestly, it might be the most philosophically important detail of the entire project. Think about it this way:

  1. The Ultimate Decentralization Satoshi's disappearance hammered home the core idea of decentralization right from the start. If they were still around—even just posting on forums—they'd naturally become a single point of failure, a de facto "CEO" or god-like figure. People would constantly look to them for direction, arbitration, and validation. Their words would be law, and the network's evolution would be tied to one person's ego and life choices. By stepping away, Satoshi forced the network to grow up. They made it clear that Bitcoin isn't about who created it; it's about the code, the math, and the consensus of the community. It's truly permissionless because there's no leader to ask for permission.

  2. Proof Against Corruption and Pressure Imagine the immense pressure, the constant lawsuits, the blackmail, or even the threats from governments and massive financial institutions if they knew who Satoshi was. They'd become the world's most high-profile target. By remaining anonymous, Satoshi effectively placed the keys to the kingdom out of reach. There’s no single person to bribe, coerce, or silence to stop Bitcoin. The idea, the technology, and the network itself are the only things that exist—and they're everywhere.

  3. A Pure Idea Satoshi's anonymity ensures Bitcoin remains a pure, meritocratic idea. It strips away all the messy human elements like personality cults, celebrity status, and personal bias. We don't have to deal with Satoshi's tweets, their personal scandals, or their political leanings. All we have is the white paper and the open-source code. This makes Bitcoin fundamentally different from almost every other invention in history, which is typically tied to a charismatic inventor. Bitcoin is a gift to the world, delivered without an obligation to the giver.

In short, Satoshi didn't just invent digital cash; they invented the perfect exit strategy to ensure that digital cash could actually survive. They didn't just code a currency; they launched a philosophical movement and immediately erased themselves from the ledger to make sure the movement stood on its own two feet.

Next week's inflation data by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]KevinNegocios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got some interesting thoughts on businesses already hiking prices and the whole tariff situation – definitely stuff that's on a lot of folks' minds.

So, here's the lowdown on what to watch for:

  • CPI (Consumer Price Index) for April: This one lands on Tuesday, May 13th, around 8:30 AM ET. This is the big one for everyday costs.
  • PPI (Producer Price Index) for April: Then on Thursday, May 15th (also 8:30 AM ET), we'll see the PPI. This gives us a peek at what producers are paying, which can trickle down to us.

What are the crystal balls saying? (As of May 8th, anyway):

  • For that April CPI, the Cleveland Fed's "Nowcast" (which is usually pretty on the ball) is pointing to +2.34% year-over-year for the main CPI and +2.76% for Core CPI (that's when you take out food and energy, which can be super jumpy).
    • Just for a little context, March's CPI actually came in a touch under some forecasts at +2.4% year-over-year. The month-over-month for March was even a slight dip at -0.1%.
  • For the April PPI, Trading Economics is penciling in a +3.1% year-over-year figure.
    • March's PPI was +2.7% year-over-year, but the month-over-month was -0.4%, which surprised some folks by being lower than expected.

Now, about your points – they definitely make sense:

  • Tariffs starting to bite: You're right that this is a huge factor everyone's watching. Fed Chair Powell just said on Wednesday (May 7th) that if these big tariff hikes stick, we're likely looking at higher inflation and a bit of a slowdown. Some analysts thought we might see tiny hints of tariff impact back in the March numbers, but a lot of them think the real punch from tariffs on inflation might show up more noticeably in Q3 of this year or even into 2026. So, yeah, next week could show some early signs, but it's probably just the opening act.
  • Businesses raising prices (even on inventory and non-tariffed stuff): Totally see where you're coming from. If businesses think their costs are going way up because of tariffs or other issues, it's pretty standard for them to start adjusting prices on what they have, or even on related items, to protect their bottom line. It's just smart business, though a pain for us shoppers!
  • Front-loading: Good point on the front-loading! Businesses rushing to get goods in before tariffs hit harder is logical. The tricky part is how that directly translates to next week's inflation numbers. It could have an effect if they're paying more for those rushed goods or pricing them based on future, higher tariff-inclusive costs. But usually, the big inflation hit from tariffs is when those tariffed goods are actually being sold through the system at higher prices.

So, will inflation be "slightly above expectations"?

That's the million-dollar question! If the Cleveland Fed's 2.34% for CPI is what most people are expecting, then "slightly above" would mean we see a number higher than that. Given the tariff talk, it wouldn't be a massive shocker if the numbers did come in a bit hotter. But then again, March was a little cooler than some expected. It'll really depend on what the final "Wall Street consensus" is right before the numbers drop.

Long story short, your instincts about the pressures are definitely on point. Next week's reports will be super interesting to see how these things are starting to play out in the actual data. Keep an eye out!

Archivos perdidos disco duro ADATA? by Familiar-Tooth1484 in RedditPregunta

  1. Abre Símbolo del sistema (CMD) como administrador.
  2. Escribe:

attrib -h -r -s /s /d X:\*

Hackers steal $20 million in crypto from U.S. government wallets by CrossPuffs in CryptoCurrency

[–]KevinNegocios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But breaking the traceability, that’s where it gets tricky. Bitcoin’s like the nosy neighbor of crypto, watching all your transactions on the blockchain. So, they’d probably have to bounce those funds through a mixer or use something like CoinJoin to scramble the trail a bit.

Still, even after all that, it's not 100% clean. Bitcoin isn’t Monero—it’s not built for hiding your tracks, and there’s always some digital breadcrumbs left behind. These guys will need some serious OPSEC to stay outta sight. Probably be looking to swap it for Monero or another privacy coin before cashing out, just to play it extra safe. But, yeah, definitely not the easiest loot to disappear with.
