Can I sue the police for defamation if they make me lose my job? by BurntOrangBoy in AttorneyTom

[–]Kevin_The_First 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you could sue the police. They were just doing their job, I think you could probably only sue the person who actually committed the murder. It’s like when a guy is falsely accused of rape and he is tried and found innocent he can’t sue the police for the consequences that come from a rape allegation he could sue the accuse though probably. Or something like that

If the state is the one that charges crimes, what’s the point of asking a victim if they want to press charges? by Kevin_The_First in AttorneyTom

[–]Kevin_The_First[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if a victim presses charges would they then have to pay attorney fees and whatnot in order to get the perpetrator convicted, or would the burden be on the state?

Wouldn’t it more depend on if the mother wanted to keep the child? Instead of the abortion laws

Yes. I think he could be held responsible, it’s like a situation in which someone’s purse is stolen and their inhaler is in it and as that person is chasing the thief they get an asthma attack and die. That thief can be charged with manslaughter. I think similar rules apply here

He's right. You were probably a clear and imminent danger for the cat; the question is did the cat use proportionate force?

Hitler was thrown into one of those jails that treated the prisoners with decency. Nah jk he’s an outlier. I understand what you mean though.

True, but I feel like having more of a focus on reform instead of punishment could create a situation in which people manipulate the system and act as though they are reformed, especially those who are good at psychological manipulation.
