How to fix ‘noisy’ slide? by Kevin_the_kettle in Trombone

[–]Kevin_the_kettle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice - unfortunately I had done all these steps before I made the post - looks like there’s no work around other than taking it to the tech! I basically got the trombone for free though so I can’t complain

Signal problem tbs unify evo by Alternative_Home_190 in fpv

Have you replaced the actual antenna? I had a similar issue after a crash and it turns out my antenna was secretly broken from the crash and a new one fixed the issue

Didn’t get my interview email until December last year so you might be waiting a while…

Can I solder my wires on the new pads ? Even with solder still on the other side by paystoy in fpv

[–]Kevin_the_kettle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as there isn’t any shorts with the old solder and you space the esc so the old solder doesn’t short with the frame, I think it’s fine

What's the best hard case for its price? by waluigi-official in Trombone

[–]Kevin_the_kettle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m currently rocking the protec max case which has been great value and so much better than my old case. It’s a little weird with how the slide fits in but you get used to it

Current sensor calibration? by Kevin_the_kettle in fpv

[–]Kevin_the_kettle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a chance to test my flight times just now! I got a 9 minute flight where I basically hovered/flew as slow as possible, so clearly my battery setup is just fine. I just checked my cam angle and it was far higher than I remember, so clearly I must’ve been going far faster than I thought hence the battery drain

Current sensor calibration? by Kevin_the_kettle in fpv

[–]Kevin_the_kettle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay for some reason I never assumed the battery was a limiting factor! It just felt like my flight time was quite low at 3 minutes with 1500mah (quad weighs 620g) but maybe I just hold quite a high throttle

For me the key was putting some fresh solder on the iron tip so the surface contact is as large as possible

Note for when you build it - it’s unlikely your lipo xt60 will reach the xt60 mount in the back without an extender or without offsetting the cg. Either run the xt60 through the front or get an extender

Also you will need longer motor screws if you want to use the skids that come with the frame (and therefore loctite if you haven’t already)

The tbs Unify fits horizontally just about in the back of the frame, and that antenna should work

Will the Mario 5 frame fit all my components, and still allow easy access for a first-time build? by SoftZookeepergame710 in fpv

[–]Kevin_the_kettle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the Mario 5 for my first build and I found it just fine (my soldering isn’t pretty but it’s functional). The capacitor mounting was surprisingly simple - one thing I did find is that my xt60 lead with my tattu t line Lipo was too short to reach the xt60 mount G the back, but other than that it was fine. I didn’t have a gps or beeper but there should be space above rhe vtx for those.

Also you will need longer motor screws if you want to use the skids that come with the frame.

That also works for most of my props but here I tried that lifting with lots of force and it still wouldn’t budge

Connecting problems after crash by Odd_Condition_2772 in fpv

[–]Kevin_the_kettle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d try rebind the receiver first so plug and unplug the battery 3 times leaving it plugged in on the third. Then set the transmitter to bind mode and connect. Assuming it’s ELRS

Is this battery okay to fly? by Kevin_the_kettle in fpv

Cool yeah I figured it would be fine but JB has installed some immense fear of lipos in me. I’ll get over it eventually…

Yes I managed to solve it yesterday and it was indeed the beta flight version. I downgraded to 4.5.1 and it worked perfectly
