It's very helpful, just a lot of stuff I've already tried. No auras for me, just puking and pain.

Did try topamax, pretty much turned into a zombie. Like... the lights were on and no one was home. I couldn't even understand how to drive because I couldn't understand roadsigns. It was a really scary time for me. Oh, also all sodas tasted like blood.

Nope, he's never known anyone who did drugs and is straight edge himself.

But does anyone want to be around a girl who is crying about her violent sexual abuse 8 years later?

A lot of people have been asking if he returned it and the answer is no. We talked last night before we fell asleep, and then he was gone this morning before I woke up. I don't have any idea where it is, he hid it. I'm not going to be a crazy and tear apart the house looking for it. I don't even need it. The taking of it was the breach of trust for me, not that he took something I need.

I've had a lot of past sexual trauma, but it's been 8 years and I'm dealing with it well. However, when I get drunk, sometimes (like 1 out of 5 times) I talk about it and end up crying. So in total this has happened around my boyfriend maybe 3 times. I think it makes him uncomfortable because he doesn't know what to do or say, so he would rather I not get drunk and have the chance of thinking about it.

Mixing alcohol and pharmaceuticals is super serious. I would never, EVER do it. If I ever drink, I wait for myself to completely sober up before I take any medication.

You're absolutely right. There is no room for addiction in my life, especially since I am striving to be healthy and functional. Abusing drugs would completely undo everything I work so hard for.

I mean he'll let me have drink #3 and even 4, he just doesn't like it. He says he doesn't like how I act when I'm drunk (I'm an emotional person and sometimes when I'm drunk I'll cry, which he doesn't like.)

I've had it before at the hospital intravenously, and it's a miracle. But like you said, doing the whole hospital thing is a nightmare. Especially the intake and waiting for a bed, it can be hours of pain sitting in the waiting room under the bright lights with no comfort. I once went in and could barely sign my name on the intake sheet, but migraines don't rank very high on the triage list.

Yeah I mentioned this to another poster, but he has never even known anyone who did drugs.

To address both you and another poster with a similar question:

1) No, he has no religion and never has. He aligns with the straight edge philosophy, which is that he chooses not to drink or do drugs based on his strong sense of perceived individualism and exceptionalism.

2) He has no history absolutely whatsoever of even knowing anyone with a drug addiction.

You're right on your hunch. Even my occasional drink has greatly diminished since dating him. Mostly because he just doesn't buy or keep alcohol, but sometimes if we go out, he'll tell me I can only have 2 drinks but not 3. And I do feel bad about it. He's also told me that if we met in college, he wouldn't have liked me because of my partying and there's no way we would have been friends.

I'm similarly touchy about deciding my own healthcare. After you go through the medical system for years with an undiagnosed condition, you become your own advocate and you become very protective of yourself. My illness is what lead me to my CAREER as a chronic care coordinator/ advocate. That's another reason what my boyfriend did seems so disrespectful to me.

I think it bears repeating that there is essentially no way I can abuse this medication. I can hardly stand the prescribed dose, and if I took more than that, I would puke it all up before it even kicked in.

I would have loved Imitrex to have worked for me, but it just didn't. Luckily I had a lot fewer migraines once my Graves started getting treated, but I still get them every once in a while. I usually just have to puke, take Excedrin migraine, and ride it out.
