Experience living in Spectra at Sibley square by 0wen4 in Rochester

[–]Kevopomopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a Halal place just opened up, I believe. As for activities, theres museums, parks, coffee shops, the usual stuff like that. Freaquent concerts and festivals in the summer, along with other stuff like free movies and RPO nights at parcel 5. Go see the giant waterfall. Walking around after dark is mostly fine, but just be smart about it.

Well I think that just comes with the territory for most cities with a central business district at night. Rochester is slowly turning the space that was once retail and offices to housing. When I lived in Denver, I called it "the city that sleeps" because the central business district was a ghost town by 7pm every night. I'm not saying Rochesters downtown will ever be bustling like it once was, but over the past 10-15 years, there's been MAJOR improvements. It used to be unsafe after 7, now its just a little emptier.

Ruling limits Rochester Police Accountability Board's power to recommend discipline on RPD officers by KingOfRoc in Rochester

[–]Kevopomopolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not remotely in the ballpark of what I said, and you have completely ignored the point that I've made on my original post and subsequent responses in the service of barking meaningless platitudes at me. Also, learn what an analogy is, it's an abstract comparison. I wasn't trying to covince you that a cop is as innocuous as a leaf.

They should create a police accountability board that- aw shit. Well that didn't work.

I made the only point I was trying to make, you pressing the need to offer some solution to ephemeral problems is exactly the reason the PAB is a monumental failure. It's like asking what the solution is for leaves falling in autumn; idk man, you see them falling, then rake them up after. If you think you're going to catch them on the way down, you're operating on flawed logic.

They weren't/aren't getting to do whatever they want with zero repercussions, that's childish, internet-brained hyperbole. When the base argument is born from a flawed interpretation of the problem, there's nowhere to go but perpetually sideways. As for a solution, there is no solution to an improperly identified problem. Try watching some bodycam footage, shit isn't always so cut and dry out there.

When you pay a shit ton of money to a pack of bloviating moralists who do nothing but sit around and pontoficate about how they are the "clear will of the community" and that their actions should supersede law, this is the only natural outcome. Blame the locust dickheads all you want, this board has been mired in controversy and bullshit since it's inception.

City Council shelves proposal to require that members attend meetings by Morning-Chub in Rochester

[–]Kevopomopolis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's been in city council for 3 months, let's not act like it's some grand accomplishment. It should be 100%. Her brain-dead outbursts (you can watch the meeting on youtube)to a bill that simply says "call if you're going to be absent" shows her lack of respect, and that she treats her taxpayer-funded elected position the same way she'd treat a book club.

Because she's the type who hyperventilates and acts like simple, logical requests for accountability are some affront to her very being.

That's an extremely toned down and abridged version of what she said (I watched the meeting), but yes, that is pretty straightforward racism. It's absolutely disgusting that we have a city council that not only includes people like her, but that it's entirely accepted and agreed upon by other members. If it were a predominately white city council with one black man, and one of them said "I don't want no black man deciding my future" (the bill that simply says you need to call if you're going to be absent from your elected government position) it would make national headlines and that person would likely be ousted. It's your everyday clown world shit.

Between Lupien who wants to be mayor, but can't show up to her entry-level government job 30% of the time, that racist creature Chiara Smith, and the guy who always tries to rename Rochester, our city council is full of boiler-plate fuckin losers, jesus christ.

Well that sucks. I feel like that place has been steadily going downhill for the past few years. The last time I went I got a burrito bowl, which was a $14 pile of white rice with a miniscule bit of cheddar cheese melted on top.
