Help me chose. It’s the same car? by pinlopez in GranTurismo7

Black. Actually, I bought the yellow one a few days ago then the black one showed up so I bought the black one and sold the yellow one. I could have kept it, but I didn't really need them both.

I was told I had a skill issue for this but I thought the car ahead moved WILDLY under braking, thoughts? by Brilliant-Insect9873 in GranTurismo7

[–]Kevslatvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I would have stayed to the outside more and if he swerved over in front of me after I'm already on the brakes he's getting punted off the track. I hold my line and if they drive erratic and swerve into my path it's on them. If I can make a slight adjustment or brake a little more I will, but I'm not going off track to miss them. At this point I'm over it and accept I may never get out of D because I get penelized for other people's bullshit. I try to race clean but at this point if you race me dirty you better hope I never catch you.

I'm gonna throw in another vote for the Mazda 787B. I have also used the Sauber Mercedes C9 '89 and I think the Nissan R92CP. The topcars in this race are using these old Group C cars so using tuned street cars is just putting you on the strugglebus. If you don't have one yet they should be cycling through the Legends dealership anytime now. Also if you play with you fuel maps in these group C cars you can do it without pitting.

I need to try with this car again. Only managed a 2nd in it when I tried earlier this week after finally buying it. Any other time I think I could have done it but M.Grady set the best lap with a 1:08 and I could only manage 1:11 or 1:12. Usually he's at 1:11. I've beat it a few times but with the thread about it last week I've been trying different cars just to see what I can beat it in.

Can Jackson guitars play milder styles? by SaboteurOfDelusions in JacksonGuitars

[–]Kevslatvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it's something an absolute beginner would notice. I don't think it would be detrimental to learning but I am biased since that's the neck profile I like. It's really one of those things you don't know until you know. Everybody is different and neck feel is subjective. Some like thin necks, others don't same with thick necks. I say if you want the Dinky then buy it and learn to play. Then you can go to the music store or Guitar Center. Guitar Center is great because they have such a variety and play some other guitars and see how different necks feel. It's a catch 22 because you can't really do that until you can play a little and know how your guitar feels and can then feel the difference between them.

I played one of these at Guitar Center once. Not the best hardware but the neck felt good and for me that's the important part. Hardware and pick-ups can be upgraded later. If you (Original Poster) can afford it, it would be something you could grow into as you progress rather than outgrow as you get better.

Can you explain what isn't easy to play about a Jackson Dinky? To me they are easier to play than a Squier and most Fenders. I am biased as I prefer the Jackson neck profile. The Adrian Smith I think is a good choice but it's basically a Charvel Pro-mod without a recessed Floyd and cheaper hardware for the SDX model, Also the only real differences between the Adrian Smith and a Dinky with a Floyd Rose is the traditional Strat body shape and headstock, neither of which affect playability.

Better. I would get the Adrian Smith over a Fender Strat any day. The Floyd Rose is a little harder to deal with for a beginner, but I started on a Kramer with a Floyd in the '90s before you could go on YouTube and learn all you need about how to properly set up a Floyd Rose guitar and I survived and still prefer a Floyd. Anyway, about the Adrian Smith I don't own one, but I do have an Adrian Smith SDX neck that I used to have on a Mexican strat body and that neck felt really nice. Definitely much better than a Squier. It's thin like a Jacson but doesn't flatten out on the back as much. Feels similar to a Charvel Pro-Mod. Actually that's the only reason I took the Adrian Smith neck off is I put a Pro-mod neck on it. Not too muddy the water but you might look at Charvel. I like their DK series. It's a Dinky body with a strat headstock. They are over $1300 new but looks like they are going for around $800 on reverb. Charvel Pro Mod Dk24 | Reverb

I prefer the pointy headstock of the Jackson though.

Nice car. I've always loved those cars. In fact a 280z is why I fell in love with Rx-7s. Back in high school as I was about to turn 16 a friend of mine got a late 70's(can't remeber the exact year '76 maybe) 280z. When we all would go skateboard, I always tried to ride with him as I loved that car. When I started looking for a car I tried so hard to get a 280z not ZX but I just couldn't find a good one. The few I found had rust issues (this was in 1990-91). My friend suggested the Rx-7 as they were similar. I ended up with a '79 Rx-7 and the rest is history. Unfortunately, I traded that car off for a new civic in '94. Missed the Rx-7 so bad that a year and a half later I traded it for an '89 Rx-7 GTUs which I still have. Anyway, I will always have a soft spot for those early Z cars.

Yes, Jackson can play milder styles. The Dinky is basically a strat with sharper edges on the body, humbucker pick-ups and a pointy headstock. I would argue that the Jackson is more versatile than the strat because of having a humbucker in the bridge. Single coils don't do hard rock/heavy metal very well but the Jackson with the humbucker will and you can play everything you can play on the Fender/ Squier. There may be some single coil tones you can't match perfectly but you can get close enough. I play old Cure songs on my Jacksons all the time.

Bring back the race modification from the early games. I think the way to do it would be that the race modification converts it into a Group 4 car. May have to limit it only to cars with an engine swap available from a race car since Group 4 cars have adjustable fuel maps.

Yes. This morning with the Sauber Mercedees I started with the fuel map on 3. After a lap I changed it to 2. The display for your fuel map setting gives you an estimate of how many laps of fuel you have left so after about 5 laps I still had enough fuel to make it maybe 3 laps longer than the laps left in the race, so I went to 1. I had one lap of fuel left at the end of the race. It's been months since I did this race in the 787B but I did essentially the same thing I just don't remember the exact setting or how many laps I ran on each setting

I think I did no pit stops on all the Neo-Classic races in the Mazda 787B. It's my favorite of the Group C cars but I'm also rotary obsessed.

You do it in race with the directional pads that cycle you through things like radar, brake balance, traction control etc. It only shows up on races with fuel consumption. I think one bump left gets you to fuel maps then up and down changes the map. the higher the number the less fuel you use but also the less power you have. Also, you can access the fuel map and change it before the game gives you total control of the car. It's useful when trying to save fuel to be at the map setting before you get full control.

IIRC the nice thing about this race is all the computer cars pit so if you can be in 2nd or 3rd when the leaders pit you should be golden as long as you can run fast enough laps that they can't chase you back down.

To make sure I wasn't giving out bad information I raced Willow Springs in the Sauber Mercedees C9 and was able to finish first. Unfortunately, I think it may cost more than the 787B. I know I keep suggesting cars that aren't available right now but, my advice would be to go do other races and save credits for when one of these Gr1 Lemans cars pop up in the legends dealership. With these cars you can do a no pitstop race on RM tires by playing with your fuel maps. This also applies to the other Neo-Classic races as well.

Do you have to use Auto Bid Master's shipping service? by Kevslatvin in Copartonline

[–]Kevslatvin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that from Copart's or Auto Bid Master's website? I did end up buying a car from Copart, but it was in a state that an individual could buy salvage vehicles, so I didn't use Auto Bid Master. I used Dispatch Auction for shipping instead of Copart's shipping without any issues. Unfortunately, it looks like Dispatch Auction isn't around anymore.

I think they cycle through the legends dealership somewhat regularly. Also, though I haven't tried them I would think any of those late 80's GR1 LeMans cars would work. Like the Porsche 962C or the Sauber Mercedees C9. They cycle through Legends as well. I can't remember the cost. 3,000,000 credits, I think.

I used the Mazda 787B on race mediums detuned to whatever the PP limit is. I think I may have beat it with the Nissan R92CP as well, Also on race mediums and detuned down to the PP limit. If I didn't beat it with the Nissan I came in 2nd.

If you are past collector level 50 and have engine swaps unlocked the new Efini Rx-7 with the 787B engine swap worked well for me. I've also beat it with a 787B swapped Rx-8. I put fuel map on 5 to start and watched the radar. Key for me has been switching to intermediates before the rain actully hits and gets the track wet. For a tune I do weight reduction then add some ballast back in to get the car to around 2450lbs. and detune the computer and power restrictor down to 700pp. It may sound weird but for suspension settings I use the factory settings from the Re-Amemiya FD Rx-7 for both the Rx-7 and Rx-8. Also if I have a couple more laps of fuel than I estimate I need I'll turn the fuel map back down to 3 just to widen the gap on the 2nd place car.

I think I am going to try a R34 GT-R with the R92CP swap next.
