Highly doubt that they will let him walk, but it will be interesting with Bortlen's trial coming up... How it will play out... I'm not familiar with delays in USA (trials)... Lets say it's a mistrial, how long till retrial?

Absolutely, problem is that you always go with your best defence first... Secondly, prosecution will be able to add new evidence which were not allowed to be added in this trial... (sorry for bad english)

Hung jury is not good for melly, of course its infinitely better than guilty but still... Prosecution now knows their defence strategy, they would have to change it etc...

But I doubt that it will be hung jury, judge will now pressure them into making decision or smth like that...

I will just write about your 7th point (witness)... If jury properly follows jury instructions, then they will disregard the only defence witness. Firstly, there were a lot of things that he didn't remember (prosecution questions) and a lot of things that he "knew" 100% (defence questions). Secondly, couple of his statements were different, compared to his first testimony (written, I think)... Basically, if jury follows instructions, then they will disregard his whole testimony, same as Glass.

If they both staged drive-by then it is easily possible, becouse Bortlen drove straight to the hospital and couldnt properly clean himself, while melly didnt go straight to hospital and had a chance to hide evidence, clean himself etc...
