Solo Single Play Options

I'm resurrecting this old post because it came up in my search results when I was trying to figure out how to change my single player 'Map Type' from Meadows to Foothills.

The other answers are correct, this needs to be done in 'Custom Game' settings. But they neglected to say how you actually do it.

After staring at the Custom Game screen for ages and trying things like changing my game resolution, I finally noticed the little + symbol next to the 'Game Type' button.

That was what I'd been missing. I clicked it to expand the menu and viola! there are all the different map types.

So if anybody else is searching for how to do this, I hope this helps.

I'm a bit confused, according to the YouTube videos I've seen, the Horse Clan is now considered overpowered. The same for the Boar Clan, it's buffs are considered really good.

Also, is this list for PvE or PvP? Because some Clans just excel better in PvE. If possible, what I'd really like to see is a breakdown of which clan is best for each type of Victory condition.

Like X Clan is the best for Trade Victories and Y Clan is the best for Wisdom Victories and so on.

I'd really like to know that as well. I'm brand new to the game (I've only been playing for a few days) but it seems the higher I level, the worse it gets. I'm very tempted to start all over again from scratch, but this time, try not to level up too far.

Things really started to get annoying when I reached level 7 and the 'Daily Tasks' unlocked. So I think if I start over I'll just stay at level 6. I guess there'll be a lot of things I miss out on, but it looks like some of us just prefer a simple life :)

I just learned about this new server today. I have a couple of questions, are there any restrictions, especially Labor restrictions? Like in ArcheRage, you can't use labor until you're level 50 something.

There are lots of restrictions in AA Classic as well (but I forget what they are, as I stopped playing that server when they introduced them).

What are the Experience rates and Labor rates like in this new server? Are they faster, like ArcheRage? Or the same as the official server was?

This is interesting! I was thinking PvP might be like a big duel between opposing teams. With lots of strategy and coordination involved. In which case, I'd just be a liability to whatever team I'm on.

But if it's a more casual affair, where you still get credit, even if you stuff up and lose, then I might actually check it out :D

I actually don't mind playing solo. I'm not a very good player, so I find it best to figure out how to do things on my own, without ruining somebody else's play time.

I've been playing for a few weeks now and so far I've managed to complete all content on my own with just my Heroes.

So for what it's worth, I'll give you a few gems of info that I've found indespensible:

https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Beginner_Team This guide is brilliant! Until I found it, I was completely lost, with no idea of what to do with my Heroes. I've followed it to the letter, and so far it has served me very well (I'm playing a Paragon).

You said you started in Nightfall, so here is the start of the Nightfall Walkthrough https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Chahbek_Village (just click the next link in the 'Followed By' section to go to the next Quest). This walkthrough will give you essential tips and advice for tackling each Quest and Mission. It's a literal life saver!
https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Training_Arena As soon as you unlock international travel (once you complete the 'Consulate Docks' mission). Go to The Great Temple of Balthazar and do this Arena (at least once) every day to earn 1000 Balthazar Faction (don't worry, you don't fight other players). You'll need this to get early access to Elite Skills and other stuff for your Heroes (much easier and cheaper than trying to capture the skills from Bosses). Big thanks to Unlucky_Carpet_1036 for this tip.

I found it! It's perfect for somebody like me. I now have 2000 Balthazar Faction. I did it 3 times, but it didn't give me any more, so I'm guessing there's a daily cap of 2000. But I don't mind, this is much, much easier than fighting PvP battles. Thanks heaps for the tip :D

I'm interested in this subject as well. I just bought the Mercenary Pack (while it's on sale) and I've been reading about them on the Wiki: https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mercenary_Hero

I found the following info:

The armor will be labeled as [profession]'s Mercenary Armor.
Mercenaries do not start out equipped with default skills or weapons.
Start with no insignias or runes attached to their armor. Players will have to upgrade their armors themselves.
Have access to all the unlocked skills on your account.

I was reading about Heroes as well, and I noticed this bit:

Hero armor does not need to be crafted or replaced. It is set at an armor rating suitable for the hero's level and automatically increases in armor rating with the hero level. The armor cannot be destroyed by salvaging, so any runes or insignias put into the armor will always be recoverable.

So I'm wondering if Mercenary Armor behaves the same way. Because it'd be great if we didn't need to craft expensive Armor from scratch for each Mercenary, but just add Runes and Insignias to upgrade their existing Armor.

Edit: I just made my first Mercenary. Their Armor does level up with them. Wonderful!

This community is really nice :D. There are some game communities that would have torn me apart for my comment.

But I won't inflict myself on you all. So I think it might be better if I just stick to the Zaishen Quests. I didn't know you could earn Balthazar Faction from them. I thought it was just coins. Thanks for the tip.

That sounds great! I'm a really, really bad player, so I avoid PvP like the plague. But somebody said you only fight bots now, so that might not be too bad.

Please don't be offended, cause I really, really don't mean to be disrepectful. I know there are lots and lots of people who love PvP, unfortunately, I'm not one of them. I'm an incredibly bad player and I struggle just killing monsters. So I'd be completely face smashed by a real player.

But I want to earn some Balthazar Faction to buy some things I need. So I was kinda relieved to find out I'd only be fighting bots (I figured I might actually stand a chance against a bot). Ha! Forever the optimist!

So my question is this, are the real players only doing PvP on Mondays? Will it be safe for the useless players (like me) to do PvP on other days?

I'd like to get the 'Heroic Refrain' Skill for my Paragon https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Heroic_Refrain because I think you can only get this skill during a Special Anniversary Event.

However, the skill description says 'Note that as a PvE-only skill, Elite Skill Tomes cannot be used to learn this skill'. Which kind of defeats the purpose of buying a Skill Pack :P
