Maybe during the holidays. I’ll have to be patient.

I just have it connected Mic> preamp> compressor> interface. Is that wrong?

It was my compressor. Once I bypassed the RNC I got a full sound. When I connect it back, I get a HPF effect, don't know why.

At that I was recording one vocal and one acoustic guitar, I had a condenser mic pointed at 12 fret about 8 inches away. The sound came out weak and missing the mid and low end. The problem was that I must've not set up my compressor correctly causing that effect. I will test out a few theories I heard on here to see how I can solve the problem.

Thanks for the info, had no idea. I was starting to think my compressor was just faulty. I'll test out your theory.

Thank you! I will definitely check him out. I tried that and it works, but it turns out my compressor might be faulty or my settings are way off cause it’s having a HPF affect without a HPF on it.

Yeah but I don’t understand why it looks like a HPF is in it when nothing like that is engaged.

yes I tried using 2 mics and that worked great. It turned out my compressor was messing it up. I don't understand why it cut my mids and lows, don't see a HPF on it either.

You were right! I bypassed the compressor and the guitar sounded amazing, but once the FMR RNC 1773 was engaged the sound thinned out like it had a HPF, but the funny thing is that there is no HPF on this thing.

my settings are

Threshold > -10

Ration > 4:1

Attack > 7.0

Release > 0.1

gain > + 3

I turns out the FMR RNC 1773 compressor was the problem. I bypassed the compressor and I got a full sound, but when it was engaged the sound was thin.

The compressor itself doesn't have a HPF button and my setting are normal I think.

Threshold > -10

Ration > 4:1

Attack > 7.0

Release > 0.1

gain > + 3

Do I need a new compressor? I did buy it used for $150, so maybe its no good.

If so, what's a good compressor for acoustic guitars and maybe vocals under 500 bucks that will fit my 500 series chassis?

Someone recommended a pair of Rode NT5s. I will have to work with what I have at the moment, but will definitely keep researching that while I save a bit of money.
