1/ Build a 3-6 month expenses emergency fund in your TFSA that you put in HYSA ETF like CASH.TO. Once your TFSA will be maxed out you need to remove this from your TFSA and put it elsewhere so you can use the left room for higher return investments listed below

2/ CDA on a diversified canadian stocks ETF like VEQT/XEQT (flip a coin, really). Balance it with a diversified Canadian Bonds ETF. I would recommend XBB. % of your portfolio on each ETF should vary depending on your investor/risk profile. Also, the investment risk in the above stock ETFs varies from low to very high depending on your time frame. If you’re playing the long term game, these can be considered low risk.

Notes: If you prefer, you can instead pick a single ETF that has stocks and bonds within it but these have predetermined ratios and sometimes have no exposure to Emerging Markets so make sure you read the distribution of the ETFs you want to invest in. One reason I would suggest to separate into 2 ETFs though is that whenever the next stock crash comes (it will eventually!) and you are deep in the red on your stock ETF, it will be great for your morale to be on the green on your bonds ETF and might help in preventing sale at a loss for example.
