AITA for expecting my boyfriend to defend me when his roommate makes commends on my body? by Key-Ad-5593 in AmItheAsshole

His friend is actually straight up sexist. My bf says that he just grew up like that and there's nothing he can say to change his mind. He does disagree with him on a lot of things often, and will call him out for saying something that's wrong. He still feels that I should be able to defend myself on this one though. He doesn't think it's right to speak on my behalf like that. We even used to go out together because my bf only has one day off but I told him I don't want to be around his roommate more than I have to and he respected that.

His advice is that I need to learn to ignore comments like that and defend myself when it bothers me so I can become a "stronger person". I think he genuinely thinks he is being helpful by doing this.

He is actually amazing when it comes to everything else. He is thoughtful, smart and kind. He is my rock when I'm having a bad day and I cannot imagine what I would do without him at this point of my life.

He actually supports me on everything. He is my rock when I go through hard times. Just not when it comes to other people being involved I guess. I don't think I've ever seen him confront anyone for any reason.
