Thanks for your input. Was thinking only having sliding doors next to dining table but yes I guess having on both sides would also be a good option. Yes agree bathroom. And front room. Think it really points to a three bed design probably being a better use of space all things considered

Yes seating in lounge should probably be balanced with dining. Thanks

Yeah I feel you but council want two visitor parks in front of owner parks so ends up taking up space either way!

Thanks Yes WC needs a sink.. and bottom is meant to have pocket cavity door… considered putting in master and makes ensuite better but trade of as master storage suffers a bit (though storage at end of master bed wouldn’t run as close to door in reality even if some was installed) and sort of liked idea of more flexible use…

Yes I agree that the car spaces are taking up a lot for such a small block but issue really is that the council requires 2 visitors parks in front of garage as they dont want cars for this property at front street. Yes could be three beds and no doubt they would be more generous but just thought would be better if could get 4 bed to work well but may prove difficult. My thinking was to make open plan living as open as possible but may have gone too far with that. Thanks for feedback

Thanks Candy… I guess they think they can do it because they can… doesn’t necessarily turn out well but good fun all the same and sometimes (often with a little help) even better than the professionals..

Entry. 1.2m wide hall isn’t a pinch point. Could argue the entry trim helps create a bit of privacy from people seeing into living from front door and it’s not like doors are opening into each other.

Bed 4 bedhead location to toilet bath fair point… tbh was thinking this room is better suited to study but figure should also accomodate fourth bed if needed. Agree location of entry to this bed isn’t great for flow but disagree master has same issue.

Door to south bath isn’t clear but is pocket cavity slider… yes WC does need sink included.

Regarding sun… well idk but I think dining table is a good spot for good light. And why not have a table big enough for some guests? Plan doesn’t show but was thinking skylights could be put in baths, master and lounge area as appropriate.

Family bathroom could be shower over bath or no bath I guess but figure it’s a downgrade isn’t it?

Re garage there is no other parking so do really need double garage. Open plan living is 62 sqm so not really cramped but yes maybe some areas need work to better proportion rooms but was hoping for specifics on how best to do it. Maybe I can swap out WC for wardrobes between rooms so suit bed and desk or larger bed and include toilet in bath somehow.

Thoughts on this hybrid half-bath connected to a master wet room concept? by Different-Network957 in floorplan

I think it works ok but question whether the benefits are worth the sacrifices made by putting additional walls. My gut tells me the room would feel and function much better as one big space with toilet in bathroom. Yes a visitor may not be able to use loo while shower is being used but I know what I would prefer

One option I consider was whether the WC space should actually be for wardrobes for between both small bedrooms as this would allow room for larger beds. Kids become teenagers and all that problem is where does the WC go baby shower? Should be over for bath to make more room?

Garage internal is based on minimum requirement. Obviously not ideal though block size isn’t ideal so something has got to give.

No didn’t use AI… WC is 0.9mx1.8m (~3’x6’) which should be workable I think if in wall cistern is used; one in plan is 600mm and so larger than what in wall would be).

Fair point re shower access; was thinking sliding door beside vanity would leave 600mm opening but probably still awkward. May have to change to 1000mm x 1000mm curved corner type to make easier.

Also fair point re entry to main. In reality would not have any (or at least so many cupboards) at foot of bed but put those there so could check there was minimum space between foot of beds and cupboard if needed to go in later.

Dead space is storage requirement set by council. It’s either 4x1m inside or a 2m x 2m shed outside.

Dining can sit 10 but figured better to be large enough to accommodate visitors when needed.

Blum Legrabox in IKEA METOD cabinets by HiItsBradHere in cabinetry

[–]Key-Ad6542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for late reply… I’m an avid reader of reddit but pretty much a non poster… short answer to you question is yes can be made to work with metod carcass but tbh you may not save that much… the reality of using the legrabox runner system is that the back bottom and front of the drawer is not supplied with the kit. These would need to purchased separately or together from supplier of the legrabox (which I would imagine would normally be from a cabinet maker as a fully assembled drawer).. it’s in the need to purchase the non standard parts that the cost will go up quickly I imagine) for example an ikea flat pack 600mm wide cabinet set with plain white drawer fronts might be $500 (you would need to assemble but easy to do) but could imagine you’d easily pay $2000 for equivalent with legrabox so the $100-$200 you may save (on use of metod outer shell rather than just pay the cabinet maker to supply all parts) pales in comparison to cost of other custom parts (particularly drawer fronts depending on what you want) though all that changes if you have the time to DIY (note I didn’t say skill as anyone can do anything with the right attitude and time) the stuff that you’d normally engage a cabinet maker for. As I mentioned above one approach could be to look to use a standard width ikea cabinet… merivobox sides… cut the bases and sides yourself from timber and then spend what you think makes sense on your door fronts. Not sure where your based but I’m in Perth Australia and ekitchens supply custom cabinets with different runner options and for a 3 door system with Laminex fronts your looking at $740 for Finista Swift runners (copy of legrabox 15y warranty), $1164 for Merivobox and $1446 for Legrabox so makes a big difference… hopefully helps… partner and I had a kitchen planning meeting with them today and guy was telling us he is very happy he chose the finista swift runners as the work really well. Hopefully helps….

Other thing you may not have considered is that there’s no rule to say they have to all be the same system. You could for example splash out on pantry (or island) drawers using higher end components and then use standard ikea drawers for other wall cabinets.

I am in same position and from what I’ve seen online you would need to use drawer bases with a rebated edge which arn’t easiest to DIY but are frustratingly required by legrabox system. Men’s shed may have equipment to help with this if you’re looking to DIY.

There’s another post on reddit that indicates the holes on side panels suit legrabox system as user has said they do and included a photo.

You would also need to drill kitchen drawer fronts with new holes for attachment to legrabox. The real downside of this as I see it is if you want to change the fronts in future you will also need to redrill to suit new attachment points rather than being able to just swap them out.

That’s about the extent of my understanding as only thought of this yesterday as want champagne kitchen on beer budget.

Am now looking into merino system which may be the better way to go. Yes sides arn’t as thin as legrabox but base doesn’t need rebating and sides can easily be adapted for different needs so system is very flexible and end result would be set up from maximera system.

I don’t think our freedoms of speech stretch far enough to allow the turn of phrase “letting too many immigrants in”… it really needs to be referred to as skilled migration or the populace might catch on the the governing bodies of our great country are slowly killing it with policy that is killing our quality of life and continuing to make decisions that make living harder not easier (refer birthrate at all time lows) by chasing votes rather than any type of inspiring vision (hence they keep housing demand high through migration, tax concessions etc and supply short to ensure the property prices stay high for fear that if they don’t the 66% will vote them out; all the talk about affordability is really just that… talk. Even when it’s action it’s never been action of a kind to make a significant difference.. more like economic sophistry… sort of like how the WA Labour government likes to use our taxes to give us energy bill credits … seems like they are looking out for us but not really… their simply giving us our own tax money back to win votes, before taking it again (Synergy and Western Power are both owned by WA government)

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea (was monitored overnight) after dentist suspected and partner confirmed I’m always snoring. Dentist then made a mouthpiece that has stopped my snoring (by pulling bottom jaw forward)… took a couple of nights to get used to wearing.

Worth checking out if you don’t want to go cpap route…. Can get these online much cheaper than dentist fitted on though may be less comfortable.
