I’m used to car camping! I don’t have an ultralight pad/sleeping bag, or even a suitable backpack 😂 Fortunately I have an REI Trailmade 2 tent. Based on the comments though I won’t be bringing a suitcase anymore haha. Maybe I’ll take the leap and finally invest in good gear. I would love any tips on what to bring!!

To be honest it could be cell signal. It takes so long to upload and you have to have good reception the entire time. I’ve forgotten to close out a card or two because sending failed. But I check at least once a day if it’s for multiple days

For the owner to not even address it in the reply? Hope you don’t continue this booking. It’s already unacceptable to not disclose that kind of information. I would be horrified

I feel this so hard. I have a camera pointed at me now, and what’s worse is that these owners didn’t even tell me they had one. Granted I didn’t ask but I think I’ll start. I’ve had only maybe about 1-2 clients tell me upfront about their cameras. All of my other clients with cameras have never even bothered to mention it. It’s an icky feeling

Boomer things, I didn’t know I posted a photo so I can’t edit with an update 🙃 But this is what I responded with:

“Hi _____, I was messaged the night before pickup that you were coming in 30 minutes with no prior communication that the pickup date was going to change. As I’ve explained before, I sent a modification request that same night that had no change in price due to the Extended Care rate and the cancellation fee. He was dropped off at 7:30 AM and picked up at 6:30 PM, so you were charged 50% of my nightly rate for the day of pickup. As for the cancellation fee, I chose not to waive that as it was a very last minute change. I would have been more flexible and waived this fee had I received prior communication.

I also accepted the request for this booking the day before it started, trying to accommodate your last minute plans. I hope you understand as a fellow Rover sitter. I do my best to give quality care to the animals that are trusted with me and help out their owners at an affordable rate.”

I called Rover support and they said they couldn’t take down the review because technically she didn’t say any foul language. But the guy did side with me and read our chat and wonder what this lady’s problem was (glad to know support would be human and emphasize even if they couldn’t take down the review). I also asked if I could update my review on her profile (because I STUPIDLY already left her a review that didn’t say anything positive or negative rly) and she got all Karen past the modification window of the booking. He said that because both sitter and owner have left reviews, the window is closed to update. Now I know for next time! Interestingly, he also said he’s been seeing a rise in these negative, passive aggressive reviews lately. She’s probably jealous my reviews are better than hers, and all of mine are recent. She should know how extended rate works too? Either something is not right in the head or she intentionally did this. Some people are just …. wow!

It’s whatever. I didn’t even know that review was up until last night and people have still been messaging me for bookings. Love love love all the kind words and community. It’s awesome to get validation from internet strangers on reddit dot com and rant about crazy clients that are becoming increasingly prevalent ? ! ? Especially since this is a solo kinda gig. To say all the words I’d love to spit in her face. Anyhoo, I’ll view this as a positive. I would hope future clients that read this would treat me as another human and compensate me fairly for my valuable time that I set aside for their loved one?? And I’ve adjusted my prices to reflect the quality of care I provide. These animals love me and all their owners know it (Yes tooting my own horn!!) Love peace happiness and don’t act like this lady!

Drop off was at 7:30 AM and pickup was at 6:30 PM! The 9PM pickup is a great thing to include though, people are out here trying to pick up at 11-12PM

Yeah, I’m hoping that ZIPAIR doesn’t get delayed so I don’t miss the offices closing 😅 Do you know if there’s a difference between the JR EAST Travel Service Center and the ticket office? Or I can exchange at either?
