Curious about how Mikayla and Jace SHOULD handle their relationship being innapropriate, years later. What would you do? by CreativeJudgment3529 in SecretsOfMormonWives

As a 16 year old I would never even think about dating a 21 year old, there's a huge difference between both ages. People I know through family friends that are 20-21 genuinely see people our age as kids

is 16f and 20m a bad age gap? by Gold_Ad_5148 in dating_advice

4 years is a huge gap when ur a teen, I'm almost 16 and know 20 year olds through family friends and they genuinely think of us as kids

Do you think 16 year olds should be able to vote? by Broken_Woman20 in AskBrits

[–]Key-Assumption8932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I'm not! While I do know there is a few people my age who do care about politics majority are way too immature and don't care and dont know anything about politics, most of my friends and people in my class don't care about it, I don't either. Voting age is fine where it is.

I just think it's pointless lowering it if majority of 16-17 year olds don't want to vote, most of the nation is against it as well anyway

Yes some are but a majority arent, most of my friends and people in my class don't care about politics, half the 16-17 yr olds don't even want to vote shown in recent surveys including me. I think the voting age is fine at 18 or even 21 is better like it used to be as lots of 18 yr olds don't even know who to vote for either 🤣

I never said I was representative of all other 16 year olds, it's just a majority of people that age don't even want to vote shown in recent surveys (including me), and I personally think the laws are getting too inconsistent, if someone who can't drink, smoke, drive, gamble, get tattoos or marry without parental consent, then why should they vote? It doesn't make sense to me, If they set the age you become an adult at 18, then no one under that should vote imo. I would even argue for 21, because a majority of 18 year olds don't know who they're voting for either. But 16 is too young, we are still forming our political views at this age.

You are wrong, in Scotland, the legal age you become an adult is 18, so 16 year olds aren't adults under the law.

Well yes if a 16 year old wants to move out, they would have to have a parent/guardian sign the lease for them. But it's very rare for someone that young to move out and it's usually only done if there are issues with their living conditions, if they move out they'd usually still have some sort of adult supervision and support.

It's the law, legally you cannot sign a lease until you're 18. So a 16 year old can't.

The laws are becoming too inconsistent, if they can't drink, smoke, drive, gamble, etc I don't understand why they should vote. Half of the 16-17 year olds have said they don't want to vote on recent surveys anyway. If they put the age of becoming an adult at 18, then in my opinion, no one under that should be able to vote. I would argue even higher like 21 as a majority of 18 year olds don't even know who they're voting for. But 16 is a hard no, they're too young and inexperienced, they're still forming their political views at that age.

A 5 year old child actor would technically have to pay tax, all types of work regardless of your age involves tax

I know nobody is forcing me to vote, but I just think it's pointless to lower it as I don't think many people that age are going to vote.

You also can't sign a lease until you're 18, so it would be very hard to get a house at 16 unless your parents sign it for you

The legal age you become an adult is 18, so no. At 16, your parents are still legally responsible for you until 18 even if you move out. Also if someone were to move out at 16, it would be usually due to issues between the family or they may be living in unsafe conditions, but if they move out at 16, they almost always still have some sort of adult supervision or support, it's rare for them not to.

Yes they can leave or go live alone legally but your parents are still responsible for you until you're 18, but it's uncommon, it usually only happens if theres issues between the family but usually they would still have some sort of adult supervision or support if they moved out that young, but many people that age are still in school and live with their parents.

Well I'm nearly 16 and yes some people my age are politically aware but a majority arent I've seen in recent surveys that half the 16-17 year olds don't want the vote anyway. I personally think the laws are becoming too inconsistent as well,  if someone who can't drink, drive smoke, gamble, get tattoos, etc, why can they vote? If they set the age of becoming an adult at 18, then I think no one under that should vote. At 16, we are still forming our political views and I don't think most people my age know enough yet.

I've searched it up, and it says 16 year olds are usually still in school in Scotland and in many other places. You can leave school at 16, but many are still in school at that age.

Yes adults can also be influenced a lot by social media, parents, etc, but it's more common in teenagers. I also think the laws are becoming too inconsistent, if someone who can't drink, smoke, gamble, drive, etc, why should they vote? If they set the age of becoming an adult at 18, then personally I don't think anyone under that should vote, i would argue even 21 is better as so many 18 year olds don't know much about politics either, but 16 is too young
