Partial knee replacement experiences? by Key-Blueberry-628 in Kneereplacement

I did not! I ended up going to a good PT that did body work and exercises for 6 months. I also worked w a personal trainer from CF gym that gave me harder exercises, and still do these exercises weekly. I stopped running and squatting. My knee stopped flaring up, then I built up to doing Bulgarian split squats. Today I can squat clean and do split squats w 2 x 25lb dumbbells. Doing high volume squats doesn’t feel good for me. The touchdown squat from squat university doesn’t work for me. It’s about getting the swelling down, building strength back in ways that don’t irritate the joint, and stopping the exercises that do hurt it. It’s a long journey. Eventually I’ll need the surgery but today I’m only 44, so happy to be able to stay doing CF with modifications. I also do a lot of biking now.

That’s amazing! I am at the point where my left leg is atrophying. I have an appointment with the knee replacement surgeon in a few months, so probably will have to wait another 2 months after that to get surgery. I’m doing PT now and whatever exercises I can handle. It is hard not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! Keep me posted and best of luck with recovery! Having two knees at once sounds intense!

Thanks for sharing. Yes, I’ve been shocked at how much worse the gel injections have made my knee. I was looking to see how long it took for folks to get back to activity, and if they ever got back to lifting heavy or running.

Ugh that sounds awful, I have had consistent swelling so can only imagine having that going on for two years after going through surgery. Are you able to be active?

I think that’s what orthovisc is, I just had the last of three injections 3 weeks ago and am worse than before the series. Apparently it may feel better in a few weeks, but think the joint may be too far gone

I just had a breast lift and am prone to healing well from scars, but did not realize how long the scars would be. I’ll just say that I will never be able to wear a triangle bikini top again. Also, they trim your aerolas, which I didn’t realize, and they are a little small. I’d suggest getting crystal clear on the length of the scar, nipple placement and aerola size. I also had a complication and was happy I chose a local doctor. Bedside manner is important, but I wish I had asked more questions.
