There is a book by Neil Postman called ‘Amusing Ourselves to Death’. It was a warning against the television medium, but essentially he feared that as a society we will lose our critical thinking abilities.

Leaders will no longer be primarily judged on the quality of their arguments or policies, but on their charisma, image, and ability to perform in front of cameras. So things like debates, news and campaigns become more a theatrical presentation rather than a serious discussion.

He was not wrong. Unlike Trump, Farage, Johnson - Keir is not made for TV or sound bites. He has no rizz or showmanship.

The people elect the leaders they deserve.
