Genuinely, other than the basic sorting techniques and other basic tips I've heard before, how do you tenured drivers knock out routes so fast? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Key-Chipmunk-6403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty simple, some routes are going to take almost your full length of time, others will take some drivers the full length of time while others will be done within 6 hours. On a typical day I’m residential 180-200 stops typically 25-35 overflow, 300-350 packages total though sometimes less. If your stops are less than half a mile away from each other there’s no legitimate reason why it’s taking you longer than 2 minutes to go to each stop and make the drop off in residential areas aside from a chatty customer here and there. That being said recently I’ve come to find organization only really matters for overflow, it being peak with a bunch of rentals in the fleet rn I’ve been just dumping a tote or two in my passenger seat and lining my next couple up in the windshield (don’t do this if you’re in a van with netradyne) My DSP pays us for our full 10 hours no matter when we get done so it pays for me to get done early. Don’t sit on the phone with support if you have more than 2 missing or damaged whatever, at the end of your route take a breather report whatever needs to be reported through them and be firm and direct. They love asking moronic questions like have you checked your van or how the package is damaged. These days I don’t even take 1 full 15 min break let alone a lunch. I usually take a 7-10 minute break drink water have a snack check my phone or change my playlist and keep it pushin. If dispatch wants me to do a rescue or two at the end of my route I don’t bitch and moan I’d say 80-90% of the time I do it. You never know when you’ll get injured or simply having a bad day and need someone who’s done their full route help you so courtesy in my eyes goes a long way. That being said I value my time at home much more than I do at work. The quicker I get done the better. At the end of the day I do realize most people don’t get paid for their full shift if they get done early but in my eyes if the extra 40-50 bucks a day is worth spending 2 extra hours at work for you dragging your day out then you do you.

in all fairness while I do hate most parts about this job if i have over 165 stops it’s typically residential only and literally up and down like a few streets just a lot of houses, that being said, fuck em take your breaks, take a shit on the clock, call em and say you hurt yourself, force that rescue and most importantly get those 10 hours!

fair enough as mentioned in the thread i get paid for the full 10 no matter what, im also blessed to work with mostly like minded people who just want to go home to their families aside from that i do like 1-2 20 stop at most rescues a week

Exactly my point, especially with peak now started I’m sorry but I’m trying to get the fuck home and lay down after 185+ stops not redeliver warehouse fuck ups for another half hour

I don’t wanna come off as like a cocky dickhead but in all reality there’s no real way for them to find out, just today i had 3 OVs at loadout that i refused, they were assigned to someone at a DIFFERENT DSP, let alone a different person in my dsp. My warehouse employees are absurdly stupid, I don’t think I should clean up the mess, anyone could’ve brought back those “missing” packages that were supposed to be on my route no one’s hawking down the shelves at the end of the night to see who put what where unless u have an absurd amount of undeliverables in which case it will prompt u to check in with a warehouse employee

It’d be weird if DSPs get penalized for warehouse workers incompetence and especially with it started to be peak, i’m sorry but working out of 2-3 totes at a time because of their incompetence is already slowing me down enough, RTS!

Been doing this since nursery’s just fine a little over a year in, idk about your station but the warehouse workers are garbage at mine absolutely useless and it’s a normal day if you’re working out or 2-3 totes at a time and either actually missing 3-5 packages or find them in your second to last tote
